To be honest I expected the Prothean squadmate to sound somewhat like Vigil. Some kind of calm, mystical, transcendental kind of voice.

To me the current voice doesn't sound like an ancient, technological advanced species. In fact it doesn't sound unique at all because that's what I've pictured the protheans to be.

However his visual design is really unique and well done and he's definitely an interesting character.

We will see how it playes out in game, maybe it perfectly makes sense.

I keep imagining his lines in the SC1 Dark Templar's voice.  Now that's a voice that would have sent shivers down spines.  It would have been jaw-droppingly epic.  The one they went with...not at all.   *sigh* It isn't about to change at this point, so...might as well accept it.  But man, what could have been...I can't help but feel that BW really dropped the ball.  It's different, I'll grant them that...but not all "different" is good or equal.  I'm a voices person, not as visually driven.  A person's voice is one of the primary initial qualities that either attract me or push me away.  It'll be hard for me to adjust to what they went with, if I ever do.

Edit: I've got to admit, when he's speaking in a calmer, slower tone, the voice is nice.  But every time he talks in a more excited tone...ugh. 

...Maybe it's that protoss thing again.

Unless it's someone's idea of a joke, i.e., a guy decides to record himself reading Prothy's lines from the leaked script in a Nigerian accent, then uploads the file to YouTube knowing full well ****'s gonna fly higher than an early released copy of ME3 tied to a weather balloon, I'd say not very likely. 

Anyway, I like his accent. It has an air of regalness to it, and coupled with the fact he's not too fond of Liara, means he's already guaranteed himself a spot alongside FemShep in my first playthrough.

Also, it sounds like Mr. P is voiced by Phil LaMarr, which means we'll be getting another VA from Futurama into this game. I approve.  Now, we just need Benny confirmed as a "Surprise!" squadmate and I can begin planning my awesomely fantasmic first run.

Well, "this" prothean and "that" prothean is what confuses us all, if it turns out to be real deal (we'll know in 2 weeks time)...though by some regard "this" prothean we came to know actually shares some characteristics of the Husk, with all the blue glowy bits and all - certainly Reaper uses Husks during previous cycles of culling before, so Protheams won't be any less spared from such "treatment" either.

Whereas "that" version of prothean does resembles the Collector - right, Collector is remodelled from prothean but that's where the problem comes in: does "that" how the prothean should be look like? What that makes of the statues in the prothean ruins?

If that's all it takes, I have some youtube and news videos you should see.  Then you'll realize why people not liking a particular voice is nothing to /wrist over.

He has tints of an African accent there though, West African at that.

On a different note I agree that the voice over does not fit with how the Prothean is presented here, but maybe there's more to this than we know or has seen as of yet...

It sounds more Rwandan, Botswanan or Namibian to me, definitely not Nigerian I don't think and probably not Cameroonian, Edit: Definitely not Ghanan.

The other thing though is that Botswana is Southern Africa, Rwanda is East and Namibia is also Southern, so I don't think it's them.

Never mind, it's a KENYAN accent. Someone pointed it out in a different thread and I do believe they're correct. East Africa then I guess.
