I have 2 seperate issues that seem totally unrelated.  I tried to do the side quest for Neeshka with the Collector, and I got the clues and should have gotten both keys, one from the girl downstairs, and one from the collector.  But for whatever reason I can't unlock the door the 2nd time (with the collector's key).  Any idea's there?

On my second but, when we go to the Dwarven Camp, Khelgar joins the party to do that side quest.  When he does, I lose control over 3 of the NPCs - Khelgar, Elanee, and Neeshka.  They won't follow automatically no matter how I set their settings in their character behaviour settings, I have to move them manually.  This makes combat very difficult when 3 of my characters are way back around the corner because they haven't moved.  It's a total PITA to get them all where they need to be, and shows no sign of ever reverting back to the way it's supposed to work.

I have all the expansions and am patched up to 1.23, which I assume is the final version because it doesn't allow me to patch it further.  Any help would be hot, and apologies if this has been already answered elsewhere.  I tried to do a search but didn't come up with anything, although that could be that I didn't know a good way to search for these topics.

Thanks

(1) Have you looked in the fireplace?

(2) First, try issuing a Voice command: type the letters vee. That should put them in peaceful follow mode. If that works, you can find more posts here by GOOGLING "nwn2 voice commands".

You may also be stuck in puppet mode. At the bottom of the screen near the left edge there is a little cluster of buttons; if one of them is red, click it and see if that doesn't get things back to normal.  Another way to get them started is to type the x key to select them all, then click on a spot elsewhere on the screen;  type x again to return to controlling one character.

Check to see if the AI icon, the smallish and right most icon attached to the large Options icon in the bottom left of of your screen, has a blue or red background. If it is blue, it means that AI is active. If it is red, it means the AI is turned off. Left-click on it to change the setting to blue (AI On).

- sometimes i Have to toggle the AI on->off->on, and then reissue the Follow command to get them into gear ..

1 - Re: the fireplace... I've tried looking in there, but it won't let me.  I've poured holy water on it, I've given myself fire resistance, and i've tried cone of cold and ice storm.  it always burns my hand.  I don't have any other way of extinguising the fire that I know of.  If there's some other trick, someone please tell me what it is.  I've tried all the ways I can think of.  :)

2 -  Re: puppet mode - tried that.  Didn't do anything with voice commands because I didn't know about them.  I'll try that.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Go downstairs and look in the kitchen.  Be careful unless you want to slay a few innocent servants.

OK, I'm really not a moron, I swear, but I've gone down to the kitchen.  I see the washbasin with the empty bottle, and I see the vase of water.  I can't figure out how to put water in the empty bottle.  I have tried equipping the water bottle, it won't let me.  I've tried bringing up "use" options with the water bottle and the vase.  This crazy little side quest is driving me crazy, I'm not giving up on it now.  :)

Pick up the empty bottle. Open the vase(?) of water (it's a container). Put the empty bottle in the vase of water and it will fill.

Here's a little advance warning. Long, long into your future (MOTB, in fact) you will have to do something similar in a secluded forest. Start letting your mind roam outside the box now.

....

As for how hard this puzzle was or wasn't ...

When I first ran across it, I just dropped in the bottle first thing ...

... But then again, I've been playing these sorts of games literally since the very beginning.

ADVENTURE

DRAGON APPEARS

*  attack dragon

WITH WHAT?!  YOUR BARE HANDS?!

*  yes

YOU DID IT!!!  YOU KILLED A DRAGON WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!!

The sad thing is, I've been playing games like this forever too. I played the original "Pool of Radiance" on my Commodore C-64, and I've been playing tabletop D&D for 20+ years too. I should know better, but I just wasn't getting it to work.

To be honest, I'm often frustrated by "puzzles" where the only solution the computer accepts is the one it expects, like this. As I said, I tried things that SHOULD have worked. Having fire resistance 10 should allow me to stick my hand into a fireplace for 2 seconds...

Anyway, thanks for the help.
