Phantoms are way too overpowered.

I've managed to solo the Phantom on both Bronze and Silver as a Vanguard. Charge, roll out the way, charge again. Rinse, lather, and repeat.

My only real complaint about them is that their ranged damage is too high.

That I agree with.

They're not that hard when you're an asari Adept - a quick application of Stasis, and then the Avenger and Warp should take them down before they can even get back up. And that's if you're alone. If you stasis the Phantom in a public area, your team will be more than happy to help you dispatch her.

so your solution in handling the phantoms revolves around the use of a single OP ability?

It doesn't have to be beautiful, it just has to work. ;)

They really are not O.P. at all. Sure they are challenging but what would the game be without challenging enemies? Boring... That's what!

The thing that makes them harder than an Atlas Mech is the how maneuverable they are. They can evade and quickly sidestep, roll, or leap away from attacks. So you got an enemy that can inflict as much damage as a Atlas attack, basically 1 hit kill, but yet is agile enough to move around the map quickly - something the Atlas can't do. So of course they'll give you a challenge and many of the times will get the better of you or a teammate but that doesn't mean they should be changed in any way.

First and foremost, the key is to stay away. The safest way to deal with them is from a generous distance. Just don't let them get close to you. Allowing them to close the distance to melee range can be fatal. If you notice everyone on your team is looking and shooting in one direction make it a point to turn around and watch your backs. If you allow one to sneak up behind you all it can wipe the whole group. Also for christ sakes COMMUNICATE. A team that talks together survives together. If you see one let them know about it and maybe where it's at. Focus firing on it, especially when they cloak, is always the best way to handle them. Try to focus weapons fire on it as long as possible to disrupt the cloak, otherwise it will be completely invisible.and killing it quickly is always better than trying to solo one for the max xp.

Secondly, Like any of the Cerberus units there are ways to get rid of them easily and efficiently. Phantoms are fortified well with a biotic barrier, however Phantoms' barriers are quickly sapped by Overload or if playing as a salarian their special ability Energy Drain can take down the Phantom's barrier in almost one use. Once their barriers are down, not only is their health open for any attack but biotic powers can be employed to incapacitate them (such as Singularity or Stasis).

Ah, understood.  I apologize.

I've found that Throw after their Barrier is down, followed by some well-placed shots works well.  Not preferable, but it'll do in a pinch.

^^ Stasis can trap them when their barriers are still up, making it the easiest way to kill Phantoms. When I'm playing my asari adept, I actively welcome Phantoms coming at me.

Yep, same here, for the same reason.

Sure, they are challenging as hell, but right now I don't see any reason to nerf them, not everything should be able to be shot down that easily...

On xbox, the only reason i get pissed off is when im reviving someone who's down from a phantom, and due to literally EVERYTHING being the A button, i get stabbed for wasting time covering, when I meant to revive... Phantom however, is not at fault here.

Point is, there are much worse things Bioware should fix, the Phantom is not a problem, and wasn't on my first try either...

An infiltrator focusing on one-shot punches can either kill a phantom, or at least make them a much, much easier target with one headshot. They do pause on occasion, making that a bit easier.

Though, when your squad-mate is lining up a shot, try to resist the urge to plink away at them with your pea-shooter. Just makes them move and a billion times harder to nail. >.>

I've cleared Bronze solo. If one guy can do it, I'm sure four can.

Pro tip for phantoms: call them out. Press push to talk, say "2 phantoms here" or something and just watch them melt.

Yeah, or have ability with some "newtons" behind it and spam that against them (while shooting at them). It works.

Not even necessarily, overload for example strips their whole barrier in one blast (which they cannot avoid). Child's play on my turian sentinel (loooove the turian sentinel). It's also worth noting that at one point they chicken out and try to run away, rather than bum rush and destroy you - it's just the matter of tracking them down.

I really hope they stay the way they are, they make MP fun.

Level 19 Vanguard soloed 2 Phantoms on Gold. Their not that hard. Bu the turrets are a major ****. They are strong, fire rapidly and you don't get much for destroying them.

I had problems with phantoms at first, but they're fairly easy if you keep your distance and take out their barriers. As my adept I just shoot/warp the hell out of their barriers then spam singularity until they get caught, then boom.

It helps if you have a krogan watching your back. I was playing a game earlier with a krogan soldier, I was a turian sentinel, and we were just charging the phantoms into melee.

Only on Bronze. Shields much tougher on Silver and Gold.

Phantoms biggest weakness is stasis. And it's a fair weakness. The game is team game. Just because the phantoms are normal "humans" doesn't mean they're supposed to be easily killed by the hand of a single player.
Stasis + a strong weapon or two players > instant death for Phantom.

There is absolutely no reason to nerf them.

No nerfing... Everyone has their weaknesses and strengths. As a vanguard, I fear turrets far more than I fear phantoms.

On Silver (of course this applies to broze as well) I've solo'd them (Carried many teams in rounds 8-10 by myself after they all die, but thats ok I like the pressure!) with:

Krogan Soldier, Human Infiltrator, Human Soldier, Human Sential.

Killed them with all classes of course. I think they are fine the way they are currently, they give you a real threat of death which is needed to keep PVE interesting.

I agree that maybe 3-4 of their version of biotic warp hits to kill you is a bit much, maybe it should be 5-6.
