warp and throw works great
Phantoms are way too overpowered.

OP phantoms aren't a huge problem if you stick with your team mates, you can take them out one on one, but its very hard if you don't have the right power's, just concentrate fire on them, keep your distance use a few power's and they'll be dead before you know it

Phantoms are a piece of cake so long as you're smart about them. once you shred their barriers, they're as good as dead. As a vanguard, it's easy to solo a phantom. as an infiltrator, you just need a steady hand

They are kinda op. I just run away from them and hope someone else will kill them. They touch you and it's like insta death.

They remind me of Spies from Team Fortress 2, to an extent.
Both can turn invisible, can easily be quelled by teamwork, prosper when a team is in disarray, and both can instakill unaware players.

I never found phantoms too hard. Mostly I just walk backwards as I spray them with one of my weapons until they drop dead. Of course, that's on bronze so...

Soldier. Concussive Shot Spam, or just pumped it with a BEEG Gun.
Infiltrator. Headshot. Or, Cloak and Dagger. I built my infiltrator to where it can one shot Phantoms with it's heavy Melee. Out Ninja the Ninja.
Adepts. Warp. Not only tears apart Barriers, but the glowly Warpyness can make them visable while stealthed. Then Singularity to hold em still.
Engineers. Drones safe your life. Detect the phantom early and distract it with a drone until your allies open up on it. The Flamethrower on Quarian Sentry really hurts em.
Sentinel: Again, Warp. And Blow Tech Armor if they get too close,
Vanguard. Nova, Charge, or just pump it with shotguns.
But in the end, Phantoms are easy with COMMUNICATION. Hard to find in PUGs, but, seriously, it's the best possible defense to say "OH **** PHANTOM! RUN!" over the mic in a panic.

If you have trouble, make sure you have an Asari Adept in your group. We eat them for breakfast.

Run away. Keep distance from them. As a Soldier I panic and throw my nades and run. If she has no shields its ez mode.

Just don't hide in cover when they're around. It seems that is how they most surely one-hit kill you. I personally, like those evil ladies.
They force you to alter your strategy, just like all the enemies do.

Widow IX + Warp ammo + Marksman = Phantom with no head (on bronze though, haven't been lucky enough to one shoot them on silver or gold yet)

Fully upgraded overload > phantoms. Here is the build to counter them and to make them easy to counter.
Rank 1: Enables use of Overload.
Rank 2: Increases recharge speed by 25%.
Rank 3: Increases damage by 20%.
Rank 4: Select Damage which increases damage by 30%.
Rank 5: Select Neural Shock which incapacitates weaker organic enemies for a short duration
Rank 6: Select Shield Damage which increases damage to barriers and shields by an additional 100%.
You will be able to drop centurion, engineer, phantom shields/barriers instantly and can drop the Atlas shields in 2-3 hits it will also drop turret shields in 1 hit. Always have someone in your party with overload or stasis.
Overload got a huge buff against sheilds/barriers and inorganics if your playing Engineer/Sentinal/Infiltrator always make sure you pick up overload because its mad good.

Krogan AR and a backhand....it keeps them down.

Gotta keep moving around the map... Stay in an area too long and they'll overwhelm you. Phantoms should take priority over everything else if you want to survive.

Just cleared silver for the first time with some mates. Asari adepts seem a must. I was playing one and my sole role for about the last three waves was locking and clearing Phantoms.

I just had a bronze game where I absolutely destroyed a phantom... Nova, shotgun, charge, shotgun, melee, dead. Something like that... I got close to dying, but I wouldnt expect anything less from "special" enemies. Anyway I got its barrier down quickly, it then tried stealthing away but I managed to get a charge off on its booty and byebye with a shotgun to your face little phantom.

Shotgun is very effective against a phantom. I usually kill her in about 3 shots. Also a krogan can slap her to kingdom come. I saw a salarian killing one with one sniper rifle shot to the head, that works too

A melee-oriented Krogan soldier can kill a phantom with one hit and any biotic class can solo a phantom easily.

Grenades will work, and, once you lower her barriers, cryo freeze or incinerate her.
Or once her barrier is down, have a teammate snipe her.
Or stasis and then dentonate.

They're a pain, I gotta admit. Like everyone suggested, teamwork is the best here. Nuke em' with powers that drain the barrier and then finish it off (stasis, singularity, cryo works best at this stage). And if you're the last one standing, I suggest you keep your distance. Enemy engineers in MP is clever too, they keep spamming turrets at each corridors :0

Use an infiltrator to cloak up and shipe her with one of the more powerful snipers. On bronze you can pretty much one-shot her. Its even easier if one of your team uses warp or overload to take down her barrier first.
