Although the game has great presentation and decent gameplay the story seems disapointing.

Am I the only who found that the scene in the courtroom in the beginning was really badly written?
Honestly, Shepard saying ' We fight or we die! Thats the plan ' What the heck! A 12 year old could write better dialogue. Honestly I would have like some great sci fi story! Whe Me 1 came out It was great. I would have hoped improvement in the writing. But honestly, beginning me3 like broke my fun!

Well the Reapers are raining down a right at the moment... I found it kinda funny in ironic way..

like "OH now that the Reapers are HERE you want to plan...Sorry you had years... times up."

Court room?, see it's begun, when you cut scenes people become disorientated.

I think everyone's on agreement that it was pretty atrocious, save a certain few biodrones who will shovel hate onto all forms of criticism.

that wasn't a courtroom - it was a room labeled courtroom - despite not actually being one ^_^

Again, folks are throwing that "everyone" around again. Did the meaning change while I was in the bathroom? 'Cause last I checked I was part of "everyone." I mean I'll check, but I'm pretty sure...

My only hope is that the pacing was off because of spoiler removals. Bad dialogue can go unnoticed if it's well-paced, like Star Wars. As long as the drama is solid, I'd be willing to excuse a few bad lines.

I don't even know why they are asking Shepard how to take down a reaper, would of made more sense to ask the highest ranking people that took part in the space battle against sovereign. I mean if earth was under attack by leap from turians then sure, Shepard's your guy. But when it comes to what will predominately be a space conflict, not so much.

would you rather Cmdr Shepard have said "out there! out there is a bright wonderful world full of sunshine and hope, we must go out there and capture it!"
honestly, its not like he had time to think of anything elaborate. he's only a commander, leave the intricate plans to the Admirals and Generals and what have you.

I personally would have liked him to have said "TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!!!" then jump out the window brandishing a sword and shield and charge at the Reapers head on. that would have been awsome

ME1 and ME2 had some cheesy dialog as well. I expect the same for ME3.

He/Shes only a commander that has more time in fighting the reapers than anyone else. Its like

Commitee Chairperson: "Ok we were wrong Shepard, now surely you havent just been sitting there with your thumb up your butt. You've got to have some kind of plan, someone you know/worked with who might have info or some kind of contingency? (cough Miranda/TIM) but they are from me2 so thats a no-no

Shepard: "First off, don't call me Sherly. Secondly, Heres the plan...  We fight? Or we die?"

Commitee: Image IPB lol

Dude, cheesy dialogue is part of the mass effect experience. Just look at Jacob: without the priiiize, nobody would even remember he existed.

Mass Effect isn't other games, and they are not relevant to the discussion. Will say that it reminded me a lot of SCII wings of liberty... the whole demo was filled with movie trailer style one liners, and that's a bad thing.

Nevermind the fact that of all the bioware games, the Mass Effect series has the LEAST cheesy dialogue. Play Bioware's old classics and you will see how cheesy they really were.

who's everyone? i certainly don't agree, i think it's only certain few people like you who would think it's atrocious. Biodrone? i think that's just being used to try and  combat the use of being called a hater. not that i'm calling you one   though

One man's cheese is another man's wine.

You are not always going to have great dialog. Some is bad and some is good and it varies by opinion. I personally thought the line was trying to be dynamic but failing somewhat. Better would have been we try to hold them off until we can get help from the council, because the whole galaxy is next. it doesn't have as much bravado though. It sounds more tactical though.

Soo.. You've played.. the first level of a game with maaaybe 15 mins of dialogue and are now able to predicate that the story for the rest of a 40-60 hour game will suck?

You must be psychic!

Some lines were "cheesy" but honestly. What do you expect Shepard to say? There really is no plan, at least not yet, beyond "Try not to get obliterated too quickly".

yeah that was a very stupid line

also "we don;'t need to think about strategy or tactics, this is about survival"
