Human Vanguard end-game tactics

I just switched from my human soldier to human vanguard (first time vanguard ever and I'm lovin' it :D).
Just did a 4-player-bronze run with lvl 3 and it was quite smooth. However, when it came to the last two waves I didn't really know what to do. Too many enemies all around to charge in, not enough weapon damage over distance to be effective from a save spot. I felt pretty useless.

So my question is: How do I effectivly skill my vanguard to be of use later on(esp. on silver/gold) and what are the preferable tactics?

Max Charge (100% barrier restore)
put 10 points in alliance training for weight reduction
max either nova or fitness whichever you prefer. I prefer fitness for the passive boosts.

Equip a Phalanx with your shotgun(thank you weight reduction perk). Use the Pistol for range. Enjoy 3.5s charges.

Charge regenerates shields, so charge everytime it's up. Level Fitness/Alliance Training to max out weapon or melee damage and just one shot things. It's not very hard.

I really dont like nova so I choose Shockwave, and I dont regret it at all...but yea after you have the max Charge that give you 100% shield charging into combat is not a big issue, well I use a Pistol/SMG so yea....my powers have a low CD...well for Bronze anyways, in Silver you want to either Pick off Strays or Charge the enemies all the way in the back and zip through them, while hopefully your team provide fire as well.

I was in a Gold Challenge where a lvl 10 Vanguard simply charged and nova'd the entire time back to back. He didn't do too bad on the score board when we wiped on Wave 5.

Max out Nova and Charge. Only bring an SMG with you (reduces cooldown). Then: Charge, Heavy Melee Attack, Nova, Charge.

Repeat endlessly.

Max everything and ignore shockwave.

Spec for max barrier (835), max power multi's (for fitness), force & dmg & barrier regen (BC), and pierce for Nova (don't do half blast, go for the CD reduction).

I can solo silver easily unless it's that stupid 4 defusing thing on wave 10 (I always forget about them). 

Basically vanguard flowchart is

Do you see a crowd?

(yes -> BC -> Nova -> repeat 'till everyone is dead)
(no? -> do it anyways.)

Fatlus blocking your way? No problem BC Nova spam it.

Phantoms? What phantom? Oh you mean that corpse over there?
