I recently unlocked a SMG Hornet from a veteran pack, but the panel was gold instead of blue like all the others. Does that mean it's better than other guns?
What does it mean when the weapon is gold?

The Hornet is a "rare" weapon. There are common (blue), uncommon (silver), and rare (gold) items.

I've got like a level 7 M-27 Scimitar, and i don't even use it. Its really ****ing annoying getting that shotgun + shoutgun upgrades with every veteren pack i buy. Im cursed <_<

Karbon, try it out! That's the point of the random drops, to get you to experiment. The Scimitar is murderous and the gunshot noise is terrifying. Check it out.

Yeah i know, Scimitar is a great shotgun don't get me wrong. It's an absolute beast, but im not a shotgun type player im more of a AR/Pistol type.

I have to admit that I wasn't really impressed by the Hornet either. It has way too much kick and nowhere near enough stopping power. I always end up defaulting back to a heavy pistol. The Phalanx is a great general purpose pistol, and the Carnifex (with a scope) is basically a handheld Viper.
I, too, have a grossly upgraded Scimitar that I never seem to use. A 200% cooldown Vanguard is just way too fun to bother carrying a shotgun.
