Am I alone here that agree with the 'randomness' in packs?

Well, i have no other weapons though. I got scimitar like 7 time (funny enough with shortgun mod) but never use it. i'm still using Avenger.

I'd be happier if there was more variety. I really want to get the Asari Vanguard, but I've gotten the female human vanguard so much I think I'm gonna go crazy.

You won't get the Asari Vanguard. It's not in the demo. Only the Asari Adept is.

oh...well herp derp :P

If it makes you feel any better, Drell Vanguard is quite fun. Image IPB

i read that as derp vanguard tbh.

None taken. I didn't mean to brag here. Cuz I'm playing my friend's account, just to see the different. On mine i only got shotgun (which I don't use at all) and submachinegun (which I also don't use) But honestly I didn't feel bad towards the system. I just support the thought that devs put into it :)

I wouldn't mind if the randomness was restricted for weapons, items, and color schemes. But I hate that it includes races. I've been playing for hours, and I still don't have my Turian soldier! >_<

I would really love to unlock the Krogan soldier, haven't unlocked any races yet so far.
However I think the who crates thing isn't a bad thing, it's rather interesting compared to other games.
My only huge gripe is accumulating credits, when playing in a wave, and you get your credits I had the host leave, forcing me to re-do the wave to earn the credits I just earned and that happened twice in a row and it frustrated me.

I love it. But I'm not the sort to take any multiplayer feature especially seriously, so I haven't given it much thought. Some of the counterpoints have been fairly compelling.

No, I don't like it. Mainly because I haven't gotten anything that I'm actually using (Infiltrator items and ARs and Pistols).

They need to tweak some of the back end coding so the boxes are weighted to unlock items that you are currently using (i.e. if you have ARs equipped, you are more likely to unlock ARs and mods for ARs).

I haven't seen any good weapons (eg. M-98 Widow), however after about 20 rounds, I did manage to get a Krogan Soldier and a Salarian Infiltrator. I'm level 16 currently.

It would be cool if you could purchase classes/races from the store instead of waiting for them in those random packs. I'd pay 50000 credits for any race/class. Same goes for weapons and such. Instead of the randomness, make it so you can purchase a weapon from the store. Good weapons (eg. M-98 Widow) could be offered for a high price.

I agree with it for weapons and things but for class/race I find it really frustrating :/

I've bought 6 veteran packs so far with not a single alien race to show for it. D:

I really want to play as a Drell but it seems impossible to unlock.

The system itself isn't too bad, but the fact that you can unlock the same damn things over and over is annoying as hell. All I want is my Turian Sentinel, but I keep getting human classes.

They should at the very least include a character unlock token in the packs so you can have a chance to pick at least one.

How about this: get a new character card but be able to pick the character?

I'm quite disappointed with it, to be honest.

I've got a level 19 vanguard, a level 17 infiltrator, a level 11 adept, and the rest of my guys are 3-4. I've been buying veteran packs the entire time.

In that very large sample, the only character unlock I've gotten is the Turian Sentinel. I've also unlocked the Carnifex and Claymore (level 1 each), but not any of the characters or gold weapons I'd actually use.

And that's with just half the gear available right now. When they add in a bunch more filler crap it's going to be even harder to get the gear I want.

I'm only dissapointed in the fact I am not being catered to, that I am inconvenienced by something I could break in under a week, even a day of playing if it was a standard leveling and reward system for challenges.

Now that we are done abusing sarcasm, I actually enjoy it. It's frustrating enough to motivate me to keep doing it. I got my Asari Adept, and I don't use her. I'm well aware of how powerful her stasis spam can be. I also prefer the Krogan Soldier to the Human ones.

So right now I'm looking at an Asari Adept, Krogan Soldier, possibly a Turian Sentinel if I unlock one to test it, and the Human Vanguard.

I'm enjoying it, I have a tendency to bleed games dry within hours rather than weeks, and after Space Marine and hitting level 41 in five days with all major unlocks, I realized how decent this system can be.

THAT SAID, I wouldn't mind having a few packs dedicated to specific things, and then refreshment packs for those of us who've gotten over N7 50. Not going to hammer it away, I just hope I don't get bored of the Multiplayer within the first week after level 20.

I like it. Good job Bioware. Incorporating booster pack style CCG into a rpg/shooter. Smart!

I got about 4 Tempests in a row, with SMG mods from my last Veteran spree. I barely touched the gun in ME2 (Locust was oh-so-better), and rarely used it in the demo.
Suddenly, i'm now very good with it. I like the whole "Adapt or Maintain" routine: adapt new weapons to new strategies, or stick with the same tactics and weapon types and maintain your playstyle.

It kind of reminds me of those card games (Yu-Gi-Oh, or whatever the hell it was) when I was a kid, where you would have some certain cards you would want but were only available in packs, and you would go out and buy insane amounts of these things until you either ran out of money or finally got what the card you were after. And of course, your best friend would get what you wanted but wouldn't give it you. So similar...

Anyhow, I like this system, it makes you anticipate what you will recieve, and makes the time you'd spend on multiplayer far more (instead of those FPS games, where you know exactly what level you get everything at) although admittedly it would work far better with more diverse packs (eg. Character Pack, Supply Pack, Equipment Pack, Weapon Pack and Mod pack, with all of these costing considerably more/less depending on what you are getting but granting you specific unlocks)

I like the random unlock system. As you say, it will likely keep people playing. The last few packs I've bought have been useless, but it's a good feeling getting something good.

Also, the free pack I got when I started playing MP gave me a Turian Sentinel. I didn't want to play as a human, so I gave Sentinel a try. It was a class I'd never touched before, and the random unlock system encouraged me to play it. And it turns out that I like it. :] So the random unlocks are also a good way to get people to 'branch out' in what they play, so to speak.

True, but I'll be cold-dead in the ground before I even consider picking up an Asari or female Quarian class (even if I did recieve a damn Asari Adept in my welcome pack)

I do think in general it will be the RPG fans that like the random loot system more, wheras the more action orientated shooter fans out there are more used to a linear progression towards unlocks. I think of it as picking up random loot from the enemies after the battle. I play many RPG games where loot is completely random, and I enjoy that aspect - sure it is frustrating that I really want some alien races to play as and don't have half of them - but I will worry about that when the main game comes out because I am lucky enough to have got the class I wanted straight out of the box.

I like the rarity, as I still have something to play for.

Something else I'm a little annoyed about (though it's a bit of a small problem depending on your views) is the slight lack of raced. When I read "Play as every race", I was expecting everything from Batarians to Geth. So far the demo only shows six races, so I'm hoping they add the remaining races upon full release, if not, as a future DLC. However, this also goes for the Quarians. After revealing the male Quarians in ME2, why would the race be gender-locked to female for the ME3 multiplayer? I can only hope the male's will be added later.

That's, actually, a pretty good point. though, for some reason, I didn't think about Batarians and Geth. Would be cool if it was though.

It's not brilliant and could be improved with packs that will always give a race or ones that give you an item based on your current loadout. I like the randomness but this too random and leads to useless sniper rifles and shotguns and we really want SMG upgrades at least
