Joker both flew the normandy, was the direct link between Shep and the fleet, and was the one who took the shot that actually mortally wounded the Reaper. Joker did not get promoted, and eventually left the Alliance and Shep got sent out to hunt geth in the far reaches.
The Alliance looks more and more like a normal government - promoting incompetence. Maybe they were able to keep their Mocha Latte from spilling during the evasive flying Joker was doing - thus proving how they needed to be promoted so high.

Not only that, but it is hinted at in ME2 that the Reapers are responsible for the Rachni's aggressive behavior during the Rachni wars. They could have picked some up at some point and have been breeding them in darkspace. Or something.
It was hinted at in ME1, by the Queen when she was begging for her life through the Asari commando. They pretty much beat you over the head with it, to make sure the slow kids were all caught up, in ME2 via the courier on Illium.

it sounds like the reaper creature faction are alot more tougher and brutal than the cerberus faction.
Well, one the devs mentioned that in MP, Cerberus is considered the easy one.
Actually the easiest one is the Geth.

Interesting stuff about harbinger in there.
Darn, Looks like Sovereign and Harbinger never were the same size. The devs did say Sovreign was a Dreadnought but but loks like its changed.Looks like they upgraded Harby!!!
Yeah I hope he towers over the other reapers. I wonder just how big he is.

I actually like this mainly because it gives a sense of continuity to the series in making Harbinger out to be the leader. I can't wait to see a personal confrontation where he just towers over everything.

So is there written somewhere that Dreadnoughts can now land on planets due to a last minute extraordinary invention, lol. Because in the ME and ME2 it clearly said that they couldn't. Or why hand weapons heat sinks are now ammo?
Well seeing as how a Dreadnought landed in ME1, this is hardly new territory, but it was a Reaper. Since then no non-Reaper Dreadnought has been seen landing. So I don't think they need any explaination for something that doesn't occur in the game.

Well in the Demo there is clearly one dreadnaught overing the city that is destroyed by a reaper, no?

Not fair to Shepard but understandable. No doubt it was a bad blow to the Alliance and human morale when Shepard first died and they needed a replacement. Jacob even talks about Shepard serving as propaganda and the "human ideal." Rewarding the heroes of the Battle of the Citadel aside from Shepard was probably a good PR move by the Aliiance to put reminders of humanity's greatest deeds in positions of note. Certainly no one else in the galaxy has even close to that level of experience. I'd be surprised if they weren't promoted.RazorrX wrote...

I'm kinda blown though that Shepard didn't get a promotion though.
Honestly the stupidity of some of these characters in this universe is so hard to believe.

It was politics. The Council and Systems Alliance wanted to play down the "Reaper" claim Shepard was making, and he was open about it, they couldn't promote him if he's spouting a threat that the Council officially doesn't recognize.

Well thats the thing it shouldn't even be in the sky! Because of its mass the Dreadnaught only way it could pull himself into the atmosphere of a planet is if it had a mass effect device of a reaper.. In ME1 they were all astonished in how Sovereign got into the surface of the planet. no?

But you give a promotion to a person who worked directly below and also went renegade to in regards to the Council orders... Not to mention who is also saying the same thing in regards to the Reapers.

Well he is the one that was controlling the collectors from clear out in dark space and he was the one that spoke to Shepard in Arrival. He has the potential to be truly terrifying, if he is the largest as well as the oldest he just became alot more interesting.

Ashley and Kaidan quit it with the Reaper stuff after Shepard died.
Also at least I was right with the whole Alliance using Thanix cannons, and hopefully the rest of Normandy's upgrades. That makes it seem less ridiculous that they can kill any Reapers at all.

So there were myths about Reapers before ME1?
Machine devils and beings of light? Machine cultists?
It was actually mentioned and hinted at in ME2 as well:
"I have no information on a 'Reaper.' References to the term exist in some para-historical theories on galactic extinction cycles."
"There are tales of such things among my people. Devices buried on distant worlds that turn the finders into abominations."

Now that the Reapers have a leader, why do I see a possibility to create rogue Reapers who dislike Harbinger?

Ohohoh let me clear this up. I know the phrase your talking about where ashley or Kaidan is talking about taking out the dreadnaught. The diolauge is reffering to the Reaper, no the Alliance ship and even then a Bioware writer has gone out to say that dreadnaught is incorrect and not properly describes the reaper in the scene. And it is a goof on the writers' part and it will be part of the main game.
