Before a match begins it shows the controller mapping diagram. On the diagram it clearly shows left/right d-pad are for assigning orders to teammate 1/teammate 2 respectively. Left/right d-pad do nothing in the MP demo.
Also, The diagram shows hold LB/RB for weapon/power radial menu. Again, this does nothing in the MP demo. I wish this worked because I would like to remap Adrenalin Rush to LB because I don't like it on Y. Y is for my least used power.

The controller mapping diagram that appears before a match in multiplayer is only applicable to the single player game. It is strange that they decide to show it during multiplayer. In multiplayer the d-pad is for equipment and from what I can tell, you cannot remap your powers during multiplayer. You only have 3 powers though, so everything is available to you at a button press (LB, RB and Y map the only powers a class has).
