In the demo the Raptor X is better then the Mattock X.

Way more ammo usage, more damage (plus has extended barrel), heavier but at rank 10 I still have 185% recharge.

It also does not have that annoying creep down bug the Mattock has a on Turian Sentinels.

I roll a human soldier (another debate, I know...) with a single gun: M-96 Mattock VII. Great damage output, peerless accuracy (for a rifle) and enough ammo capacity to down at least 2 troopers on Silver.

Also: THAT SOUND!!!

Nothing like a Mattock madly pumping 4 rounds per second straight to a Centurion 's helmet... Hands down, the most satisfyingly intimidating sound on the battlefield as far as I'm concerned.

Real men use the Mattock.

I do feel a little let down about the weapons in this game. ME2 had an almost perfect balance with the core set, but there are large balance issues with these guns in the ME3 demo. It seems like it's no longer about which gun "feels" better with your playstyle, and more like ______ gun is just better.

I have the Mattock X (all from Vet packs, ugh), still use the Avenger though on most my chars.

This being the demo and all, I think people jumped the gun a little bit with the oh weapon X sucks...it isn't as powerful anymore...etc.

That's because you haven't unlocked the upgrades for it. I'm sure weapons like Mattock, Claymore etc. will be just as badass as they used to be when upgraded fully.

I am so completely unimpressed with the pea shooter that is the mattock.  It's an insult to assault rifles, as are most of the rifles atm.  I run my soldier with the Avenger X...lol, or a pistol or a shotgun.  Bioware needs to make these assault rifles actually hurt something.  

Qs: how many shots from a mattock with AP ammo does it take to kill a brute on silver?  Answer: no idea..cause you're dead before it happens.  Ok you can kite the brute all over the place and win, but i can do that better with pistol.../sigh.

All AR's are useless IMO... it really is a shame, but if you don't have a good weapon in MP it really doesn't matter... I just WANT the Mattock X for nostalgia.
