So I just finished reading Asunder and wow. Not only dose the book leave you with the Mages in full rebellion to the Chantry but a huge civil war is being fought within Orlais. This provides so many possibilities it is frightening.

1st the game could just revolve around the building war between the Mages and the Templars. However I find this sort of hard to see as Bioware would then have to give us the option to flat out choose a side or railroad us into helping one or the other.

2nd the game could revolve around the civil war in Orlais with the Mage vs Templar thing as a background story where you could sympathise with one or the other while fighting the civil war.

3rd we could get into Tavinter using the opportunity of Orlais being in such upheaval. They have a different Chantry and mages still rule. They could attempt to join with the rebelling mages and try and take out both the Chantry and Orlais itself.

4th the Quanri could use this opportunity to invade in force. We know they are mostly up north fighting the Tavinters and other regions but with Orlais one of the strongest countrys out of the picture they could take Thedas unawares while it can not unite against them.

5th a little of all the above. Or some other things I am forgetting. But no matter what it is I am really looking forward to playing it. Here is hoping they give Gaider and his team the time they need to do this great turn of events justice in the next game!

P.S. Mad crazy props to David Gaider on DA Asunder. It was a great book. You have come so far since The Stolen Throne as a novel writer. Can't wait to hear more from you. Keep those books coming!!

I think there is already a war going on between the mages and the templars because of what Varric said at the end of DA:2. Whatever side Hawke takes, his or her name was a rallying cry to keep the mages fighting. I think there is only one thing Tevinter magisters care about and that is themselves. They would not weaken themselves to help someone, even if they are mages. The Qunari are still a threat in Tevinter, and I wouldn't be shocked if they invaded the Free Marches or Orlais.
Since the templars are so preoccupied about the mages, I think there will be plenty of opportunity for lyrium smugglers. I would love to play as a lyrium smuggler in DA:3. I hope whatever they come up with, it will be a great game!

Asunder showed once again how great the storyline about darkspawn and demons in and outside the fate is.
Sadly i expect DA3 just to be about the civil war focused on jet anothe random guy/girl that is not realy in touch with any of the events like it was in DA2.
I think DA3 will be a neat game with lots of generic templars and mages to slay, providing us with some companions with opinions on the matter and a lot of explosins, dodging and jumping about. But i also expect it to be as far away from the good story plots as DA2 was.

Afterall i am happy that biowares book writer did not get as lazy/focused on fast release as the game writers.

edit:
I guess it will be in Orlais and the "Qunari problem" will be shown/indicated in the end (maybe some DLC-mini-stroy or a possible game in the Dragon Age world).
