Because it doesn't fit with what we know. The
automated recording on Illos didn't have that accent, nor did Vigil when
you spoke to him.
Pretty much this:

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the protheans may all have had different accents, in comparison to where they came from? we humans also have a large variety of accents for our languages, say for example the english language. Who is to say that the protheans shouldn't have had several different accents to speaking in that exactly same way? Saying that all protheans should sound like two voice samples from Ilos is being a little ignorant, IMO.
We know that the Protheans were numerous enough that it took the Reapers - experts in mass murder for 12040214100214 centuries - a few centuries to bag them all. A civilization that stretches across the galaxy is more than likely to spawn any number of varying racial differences.
I also had no idea about the Prothean character. Can't say I'm a fan of the idea.. but I'll live and see. They've done a great job about the story so far, I trust them.

Well, for me Tali's accent was fine simply because of her character build. You only see her suit but little details like her hands and feet made me imagine her looking like a female version of Nightcrawler minus a tail. So the choice in accent Sroka used for her wasn't as jarring.
The artwork for Prothy doesn't have the same kind of effect though, when putting the voice sample with it.
If you say so, however, voices aren't always indicative of how the character should look like.
For example: I have a 17 year-old friend who is REALLY, REALLY big, but he has the voice of a tiny skinny 10-year old
I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm just saying we shouldn't form our opinions yet about something we know really little about.
Never said it was indicative. I just explained that for me Tali, and by extension, some of the other quarians ala ME2 get a free pass because their designs trigger me to imagine them being similar to Nightcrawler, a character I like from the marvel universe (btw he's eastern european), due to their special appearances (ie: hidden behind envirosuits).

However, there is another female quarian in Tali's loyalty-mission, who has a british accent, along with almost all of the male admirals. Not to forget, Kal-Reegar has an american accent, while other male quarians who look just like him do not have the same accent, for example Prazza. Does this seem wrong to you? Or do you think it fits the way they look?

The varying accents of quarians fits for me mainly because they're hidden away behind masks. Somewhere on these boards is a post/thread explaining how quarians have diverse accents among themselves due to each ships crew using dialect from various regions on the worlds. For me, it works.
But there is a flipside. Quarians are the only alien race that do have differing accents. Asari, krogan, salarian, turian, batarian....they're all the exact same. Californians.
In other words, quarians are blank canvases which helps me to digest the human accents they have.

He's a VI anyhow, doubt they add in accents as extra flavours.
But yeah Prothy sounds pretty awesum. I just hope his story isn't completely retarded one.

Mind you, both of those were being translated specifically into a modern language, either by Shepard's possession of the cipher or by Vigil himself (who point-blank states that he's configured his language in order to communicate with Shepard and his crew). It can easily be said that we don't have a personal encounter with whatever a Prothean is meant to sound like in order to compare this to.
As for the Prothean dude's accent, I'll have to hear it in action to know whether or not it fits.

And yes the prothean will be DLC, however he is handled differently than Zaeed and Kasumi, meaning they have full conversations recorded for him and not just random speech when you klick him. Much more intergration with teh story, and a window to the past.
As of right now, there's nothing that indicates whether he's the DLC character or not, although the case for him being a main story character is larger
1) He has fully-voiced files in the demo code, which show a set of battle taunts and various dialogue options.
2) The documents that caused a kerfuffle a few months back have the Prothean as a pivotal character that is discovered in the course of the story.
3) The assumption that a creature who represents the "beginning" of life in the ME galaxy being relegated to DLC content that has no relevance to the main story (or only shows up after the fact) is absurd. Do you really think that a key part of the game would be skipped like that?
4) At one point, Zaeed and Kasumi were part of the main game - they had full dialogue recorded (for Zaeed, at least), rooms set aside on the Normandy where they stayed, and they had full interaction and comments during the recruitment and loyalty missions (the only thing that really changed was their loyalty missions, as evidenced by the game code). Even if the Prothean is DLC, he likely was intended to be in the main story at one point or another (and the dialogue shows that he talks to other squadmates).
5) The dialogue makes references to "what is coming", "the end of a cycle", various interspecies conflicts (vs. Salarians, vs. Krogans, etc.) - does this sound like post endgame content to you?

I'm pretty sure (from what I read at least on these forums and elsewhere) that Prothy will be handled like Sebastian in DA2. He is a full fledge squad member with actual conversations and a story. Kasumi and Zaeed were more handled with a one sided conversation or "This is a helmet from some Krogan, lemme tell you about it!". Sebastian in DA2 was just like any other character once you had him. I had done a playthrough before buying him and then one after and he is included in the story and makes an impact (especially the ending). Seems to me it'd make since for Bioware to treat Prothy in the same way considering how important his character could potentially be.
The difference between them is myriad. While Sebastian was a companion, his story was almost entirely ancillary - he disappears for years at a time, and the only visible impact he has on the game's plot is swearing to enact vengeance on all of Kirkwall if you killed Anders. He doesn't change the game's ending, and his romance subplot is less substantial than the other members.
In contrast, the Prothean character, is (by virtue of his existence) intended to be an integral part of the game's plot. From what we know and his leaked dialogue, he has knowledge of what's going on, and comments on several factions that are fighting and/or engaged in a war. In the leaked design documents, he's a key part of the plot. He makes reference to "end of a cycle" and has at least some dialogue with the other party members (who all address him by his race). Zaeed and Kasumi never had any interparty banter (not that I noticed offhand, anyway), with the extent of it being Kasumi's comments on the crew and your LI.
While it's certainly possible that he could be DLC, I don't see how you could create a character like that and relegate him to an add-on - basically admitting he serves no real purpose to the main story. Either that, or he's being withheld because of a money grab (though I'd hope not).

In that case...
The CE (Back when it was announced) was leaked with the DLC titled "The Prothean -- Character and mission pack". This, coupled with the prothean's page from the new art book (Plus the recently datamined voice files for him), all but throws it in your face that he's in the game. They may/may not have changed his DLC status. Of course, you don't need the CE to get him, the associated DLC will be sold on its own, like Zaeed.
Also: there is a DLC called "From Dust" that was accidentally sold to people from a handful of retailers, I assume that's the name of the prothean's DLC.
Also, he's apparently african. If the datamined voice sample truely is genuine, that's some exceptionally ****ty choice for voice acting.
Maybe not. They made a cold, soulless drone like me laugh.
Oh I see...I didn't think about the "comic relief" angle! It makes sense now! Prothy is the new Chris Tucker!
Because Chris Tucker's from Africa!
No wait...
Because he's black, and all blacks sound like Africans!
Wait, no...
Maybe that was just a stupid thing for you to say.
Anyways, what does it matter if he sounds that way? Is it out of character somehow to y'all? How should he have sounded? Like Allen Ginsberg or something? I like the voice sample that I heard. I could see someone finding it kind of funny, but it's no more odd to me than Zaeed or Miranda having accents out of the blue.
Honestly, I find it more silly that we get a Prothean as a squaddie than I find his accent, which sounds pretty bad ass to me.

I don't think so, cause dont make sence at all! We all know he will be an important figure to the game, so I doubt that he will be on DLC (I was thinking more of EDI)!
Now my question: why is the prothean a squad member? Why put him in risk, bring him along to the missions
Anyway guess we all will need to wait and see!!!
