He's not going to be a particularly important figure. So what if he's the only Prothean left. Legion was the only platform of his kind. He was 1,000+ Geth. His death would be a minor genocide.

Prothy still ain't as cool as Legion.

Guess it's not too surprising with all the Day one DLC seen with DA2 and ME2.

I'll pay for cool new guns, missions, and even squaddies like Kasumi and Zaaed but I will not spend a dime for a Prothean squadie who according to everything in the game should have died 50,000 years ago.

A goddamn Prothean seems pretty essential considering he should have some knowledge of the Reapers to give. Plus, Liara's on your team. Not including a Prothean in the normal disc release for everyone to play is... mind-boggling.

I'm perfectly fine with day-one DLC that's free for purchasers. I'm even fine with whole characters made DLC. But only when they're truly optional. This Prothean seems far too important to be tacked on as DLC.

Not a how-to on how to beat them. Knowledge. You're telling me you don't think it's a big part of the story to hear the only account left of how the old worlds were and what it was like seeing the Reapers 50,000 years ago?

I feel like that's way, way, way more significant than a side quest involving the Blue Suns and another involving a thief and a house full of no-name criminals to never be heard from again.

It has nothing to do with how essential the squadie is to the story since at the end of the day all DLC is not essential. The fact that Prothy is DLC means he also adds nothing to the story but because of his race he actually undermines the awesome and truly unique thing that the Protheans were. It may be very cool but cool does not equal good story.

Essential...as in, talking with this Prothean won't raise the "war asset" points up..then I guess..

Ok, so are we paying for a dlc character if we DON'T buy the deluxe edition or not? (Prothy)
More importantly WHY are we paying for a prothean when this dlc SHOULD have been ingame in the first place. (You can make all the fanboy posts you want, but at the end of the day we're talking about paying for a character in this universe that is actually more important than Shepard.)

I agree with the others that say this is a douchbag thing to do to their fans.

How about this for all you haters out there. Just dont buy it for three months, then WAHAY new DLC and you wont complain about it being first day. Most of the first day DLC is free for people who bought the game retail. So if you buy the game new then you usually have nothing to worry about.,

You miss the point...

If Prothy was not a DLC he would be essential to the plot. Since he is not, of course he can't be essential otherwise people who don't buy this DLC would feel betrayed. So he is peripheral.

But the point is...

Bioware wasted a great opportunity for not making Prothy plot essential. The potential was huge. You can't deny that.

How can a prothean not be essential in the general plot that is the mass effect universe?

It is a god damn prothean. Mass effect and shepard would not be what they are without protheans. They are damn essential to lore.

I heard the first Prothean dialog file on youtube and thought it was a sick joke by somebody (The Protheans are friggin Jamaicans?) but there are corraborating files now. This guy has Jar Jar written all over him.
