You can't trade in PC games.  Go back to your couch, bioware doesn't need you to defend them.

They (DLCs) may not be the death of gaming, but I definitely dont like the direction this is heading.

Taking original content and sidelining it for DLC? Shady

Available the day of release? Very shady

No one sees the harm in it...now, because it's 'only x$'

Next year, we'll be buying games by the chapter. Then what?

In 5 years EA will be selling you the install wizard for $20, then the milking really begins:

You want armor in your game? $5

Oh you want people to actually talk back to you? Voice $5

Hair on your character? Textures $5

Dont like the standard color? 'Modified textures' $7.50

You want to use mouse *AND* keyboard? Advanced interfacing $2.50

etc etc...sounds silly? We're talking about EA here.

Or they'll reverse it: Install game, 2hrs later, Game Over. 24hrs later: NEW DLC on website

So ya, keep trivializing this DLC thing, EA is loving it (all the way to the bank).

Wardens Keep and Shale DLCs were supposed to be part of the ORIGINAL game. Why does same lame exscuse about their inability to meet a deadline equate to the customer paying for content were were supposed to get anyway.

I can understand kids not seeing a problem with DLC, since they're not paying for it, all they see is more time playing a game they like. But for people who pay for their games, this is the equivalent of selling selling a car without seats or side mirrors: Does the car work and function, well yes. Should you then, turn around and sell me parts that are supposed to come with the car: No.

Honestly?

Well, I believe many people are just very much disappointed in this new game - they probably expected something completely different or think that their expectations have been raised to a certain level which then was not upheld by the game. This may result in a rather rude post to express their frustration (kinda normal these days, actually)

However, I also think that even constructive feedback gets lots of bashing by the fanboyz here ...

So, here's a question: What makes you think we are entitled to get any and all content they create in the original game? Why is it wrong for them to decide to set some unfinished work aside to be included in a future downloadable purchase?  This game was half a decade in the making and is packed with fantastic content. Compared to the majority of games I've purchased recently, I feel like I got a huge bargain paying the purchase price for DA:O, and if Bioware is prepared to release more content for this game then so much the better.

Dont get me wrong, I love this game. Capital "L". Lots of content, great story, gripping, replayable...all that. This game, even by BioWare standards is a 10. But, this is a prime example of laying with dogs and waking with fleas. I seriously doubt this was a BioWare decision, to exclude the content and to then turn around and rerelease it as DLC, that reeks of EA.

But what I'm saying is that, this whole DLC thing is taking off, but at what cost (to the players)?

And at what point do the devs decide on what's core content and what's 'extra' (see the DLC menu above).

At what point do we see our feedback turned into DLC? This is the first rpg game I ever played I had to 'buy' a chest for storage and that's lame. NWN2 gave you an entire functional fortress, complete with smithy, vendors, 2 chests master bedroom for FREE. Now I have to pay $7 additional for 1 chest, the facade of a castle and 1 overpriced smithy? Oh I got a quest and a suit of armor too (that got replaced 4 levels later).

Ya its great to have content at the ready...'Additional' content that is, not from the core material.

Entitled? Some words are so overused. Fair, deserve, entitled are good examples.

Short of royalty claiming a throne, there arent alot of things people are 'entitled' to.

But I make my own money, and it's not plucked from off a money tree. So, ya, I want the most for it. Short of that, BioWare needs better security, because had I not known about this (deadline/rereleasing) I would have just assumed BioWare was hard at work with additional content to coincide with the release of the game.

Are you telling me for ex Star Ocean 4,Lost odyssey,Blue Dragon or Tales of vesperia is shorter in content? and do you think for ex FF13 will be that and charge for DLC on day1 ?

I wonder why japanese developers doesnt charge for dlc on day 1.

Just for reference...

DAO took me 38 hours to finish.
TOV 53
SO 46
LO 43
BD 37

And dont give me that, oh but DAO has extra content that you didnt explore, oh really, so Star ocean 4 for ex doesnt have 3 extra dungeons which you can powerlevel to 255 and find the best gear in?
I played SO4 for over 150+ hours doing the extra dungeons and 100's of side-quest,doesnt mean the game is really 150 hours, it means the main story is 40+ and the rest if up to you if your a big fan or not of the game and wanna press on for full completion.

I played it from 11/3 up to 11/18 without any DLC. (game was released here on 11/18 only). My first full run took me over 100 hours. And it's been a great experience. Of course I got the CE which gave me all DLCs (WK's been included in the release we got here) but it made no difference.

Without any DLC it is a memorable game and I wouldn't say the DLC are that so important that those without it are missing anything but I got them as bonus and I'll make sure that this game is one that my kids will play when they're old enough. Hopefully with a lot more DLC's, xpacks, addons, sequel, by then.

The community provides many stuff for free, including storage chest. If you'd buy WK only for that you have an option. I'd have bought it anyway. (Should have waited till higher level to get the armor from WK though... it gets a lot better and no need to change it 4 levels later)

That's cute, however, nothing I wrote was silly or ignorant
Everything I said has merit, and as for that link, I agree with it 100%

If you can't trade in pc games....my bad.  But I am not defending bioware if you actually cared to read the posts before you respond.  To reiterate for the 10th time, I was expressing my irritation at the pointless negativity, the non constructive criticism that I have to navigate through on this forum in order to read the valid posts that serious gamers who both like and dislike the game post in order to improve the game.  I am not a fanboi who defends Bioware no matter what, but I hate pointless posts like " Bioware sucks, I hate everything about this game, I was lied to and my mother beats me" etc....  But I digress....going back to my couch now to play some more......
