I'm going to give you a little background information on me first before I "rant" about Mass Effect 3 not having gamepad support on the PC. When I was 14 I had a PFO "Patent Foreman Ovale" stroke. I was able to get limited functionality in my right foot as well as my right hand. Now, I'm able to use my left hand for a gamepad and my right to hold the gamepad still.
Now my rant.
The excuse that your GUI team is 'already stretched thin' is bull. The GUI team is probably in their office twidling their thumbs now. Yes, in the first few weeks of this game being started the GUI team was working hard but the game is finished. Have your GUI team set up support for gamepad to be released on the first patch.
If you don't I may not buy this game. You may say "That's only one gamer." I'll post this on ablegamers.com maybe they were going to buy this game but after they see this they may change their minds. Who knows what site I'll post it to next.
Sincerely,
Nick

I finally got a chance to download the PC demo today. I grabbed my 360 controller for windows, ran the demo, and watched the awesome intro. Then I threw the controller in a fit of rage after discovering I would have to either get up off the couch and play at my desk, or buy a console version with ****ty graphics.
I will not be purchasing the game on any platform until gamepad support is added.

Why use a controller when you can use a mouse instead?

Are you serious?
did you not read the OPs statement..
or are you referring to the 2nd poster..
at which point... that is his/her preferrence.. i know several people that buy a big screen HDTV and plug in their computer and have their gamepad ready to roll so they can camp on the couch.

Sadly, the loss of the entire handicapped playerbase isn't going to sway EA one bit.
Pretty sad considering some of the best gamers I know have various handicaps ranging from deaf to blind to missing limbs.
If we can hack it in via mods, it'll get done, but that all depends on whether EA cracks down on file modding.
Won't know until retail ships though.

i honestly think, bioware don't give a **** about pc controller support. and they won't do anything to add it. just look at mass effect 1 & 2

EA and Bioware just dont get it at times do they, they really could quell a lot of the negative reaction to their games with just a little investment and effort.
Putting in controller support, seperating key bindings, adding in holstering animations et cetra. Its not rocket sceince but alas I think you are right. They simply dont care enough.
Also OP you should rename the thread to mention this is related to your need (rather than desire) for gamepad support.

i dunno, my brother likes his gamepad where as i prefer the mouse, in anycase, he has a little program which converts every possible game pad button and the two sticks by the angle to anything you want it to be on a keyboard or mouse, thus he can easily play any game with it even wow tho gamepad has too few buttons for him to press to be as he says "fully viable option"
have the gamepad followers not thought of doing something of that kind?

Yes we've thought of doing that that's why we use Xpadder,Pinnacle Game Profiler etc..

in that case, what is the problem?
and don;t think i am being blunt or rude or whatever, i am simply interested to understand why if you already have the "better option of completely customising your gamepad" do you want devs to make some "not as good gamepad support" or am i getting this all wrong?

I can only speak for myself..
I am no upset because i can't play the game.
I know the way to do that..
But some others don't,they don't even know the existance of such software which may lead them not to buy the game because of that.
I just can't understand why they don't have gamepad support in a game that is 100% playable by it..
It's not like it is a FPS title, for God's sake even Alan Wake has gamepad support...
