I need to know if I can get the absolute best ending for the game if I don't complete any multiplayer.
I just played the demo and it says live gold would be required for the full release. I am not going to buy a gold membership for one game. I don't have any other games that require it.
If I can't get the best ending without playing multiplayer I'll just get my $80 back instead.

Technically you CAN get the best ending without multiplayer...but I guess we'll see.

From what I've gathered around the web you can get the optimal ending without playing multiplayer if you import a save from Mass Effect 2.
In said save it's also expected that Shepard made overall smart choices.
If you do, plenty of opportunities arise to increase your Galaxy Readiness.

From what I've heard, MP makes your Galaxy Readiness easier to move up, but that doesn't mean its impossible to do from Single player. I'm thinking there would be specific missions that could be filled in by playing MP, I'm not sure though. Either way multiplayer isn't needed but it makes it easier.

I don't really care if I have to do a bunch of extra, tedious missions in SP so long as I can get the best ending. Because if I get the CE and find out that I need to do tons of stuff in MP to get the best ending I will NEVER buy another EA/Bioware game again.
If I pay $80 for a game I expect to be able to get the most rewarding story that game is capable of, not some bs about how to do so I have to pay more money.
