I don't feel like this is an issue between people that do or don't enjoy a random rewards system. It specifically deals with the way races are unlocked. There is no reason we couldn't have a way to unlock specific races and have the other rewards kept random as they are.

If the races were purchaseable, the rest could stay RNG. Heck, on my Engineer I prefer the M3 Predator pistol (starter one) over the few new weapons I've gotten.
I also think 20-25000 credits per race unlock would be an okay price.

I have yet to read a good argument against letting us choose our race. I say there isn't any.

It may take long for you but for many others they find new characters very quickly. Its totally random. And maybe force wasn't the proper turn, would encourage sit well for you?

I generally frown upon EA doomsaying, but I really wouldn't put it past them at this point. Hope I'm wrong.

So much complaining and a sense of entitlement. Sheesh. I completely disagree with the claims made that unlocking the characters is too hard or rare. Guess what? Its supposed to be hard. I never understand this new generation of gamers who have no patience to actually put in a respectable number of hours in a game to get goodies. Nothing is guaranteed. You might of played the same amount of hours as me but havent unlocked any races? Tough luck. You're only complaining because you're unlucky. Based on how many players I run across online who have unlocked other races, i'd say the system is fine. IMO, if youre below N7 level 30, you havent spent enough time.

Funny story. You cannot in any way shape or form earn them. You can win them. Hence the discussion. I'd love a way to earn them, but telling me to go spin the wheel is not a goal to work for.

You assume too much. I have been playing video games for over 23 years, including those that predate my "generation of gamers." This has absolutely nothing to do with difficulty. A system is not hard when one person gets their reward instantly and others have to spend weeks or months. That's called luck.
There is also no "sense of entitlement." This isn't one individual's complaint, anyone can look at these forums or this thread to see the majority is not happy with this system as it pertains to race/class unlocks. I am more than willing to put in the time and effort, the problem is that time and effort may yield absolutely nothing.
So far I have played the demo for somewhere around 20+ hours. I have 4/6 of the aliens unlocked but still no Krogan. Even when I have my Krogan the system will still be unfair. N7 raiting means jack squat since a single Lv:20 is the fastest way to play silver/gold to open the maximum amount of veteran packs. Going for a high N7 raiting means opening recruit packs for maximum exp and also leveling each class equally as to not waste exp. If you understood the system you would know this.

You must like Bad multiplayer games, the RANDOM unlocks are not okay or fun( especially when you unlock the same human male soilder 8 times absaloutly killing the replayablity of the game, along with the useless weapons/mods) bioware has to change this if they want people to still play the game.

I kinda like the having to earn 5000- 20000 credits just to unlock new weapons, characters and items. Makes me feel like I've earned it.
I kinda like it too, but I hate how the rewards are so random. Granted I finally got two new races (Turian Sentinel and Drell Vanguard, who is awesome by the way), but I have been gunning for Quarian for the last three days. If each type of weapon, ammo, equipment, race/class have their own pack. I wouldn't hate the system as much as I do now.

I don't mind so much sure it can be a pain when a friend as a race you want but look at it this way it gives you goal to aim for.
No it doesn't It's completely random,it would be much better if they did it where people actually progress to what the want instead of hoping for what the want(or have it better organized)

As for those who think everyone's just "complaining because they can't get what they want", they need to realize that people want what they want so they can actually have fun. When they can't and have something they don't want forced upon them, it makes the experience far less enjoyable. Throw in very rare pack drop with a high chance of getting the same thing multiple times (most often humans and/or weapons people don't use from what I've been seeing), and you get what's a terrible experience in their eyes. Also, on the topic of those who actually like this random lygenerated unlocks, I've mostly seen people who have already unlocked what they wanted as those who like it and deem those who constantly get something they don't want as "just unlucky" or "impatient".

I've heard more good about the system than I have bad, just not on these boards. Because people happy with the system generally don't make threads on it. I can't say which side is in the majority but the amount of people who actually appreciate the RNG being there to determine things is actually quite high. I can say personally I probably would give ME multiplayer all of 5-7 days of playing in the retail release and then grow bored and go back to single-player, if I could get the optimal race/equipment build in any marginal amount of time.
It adds to replayability as it stands. Makes things interesting for me. And this is from someone who has literally gotten not one damn thing I want to unlock over the course of my matches. Yet, here I am, having fun while waiting for lady luck to swing my way. Quite fun!
