I usually Make a human with stats as 14 16 14 10 14 10, but want it to be wisdom based this time, so my special attacks are more likely to succeed and such. recommended stats are 14 14 14 10 16 10, now how would I change that around for a stronger wis monk?

and what feats would be most beneficial, and which should I steer clear of that have been taken as monk commonly?

Well, the short answer is: don't make it WIS based. Kaedrin's pack can make a WIS monk more viable, but it's not something I'd recommend unless multiclassing with cleric/SF. In the vanilla game, STR or DEX is way better.

If you're still sold on the idea, I'd post in the second link from Axe's post.

I think the main benefit monks get from high wisdom is the bonus to armour class. You can always boost wisdom via equipment if need be (amulets of wisdom, for instance). Potions of wisdom are a handy way of increasing a low-level monk's AC at short notice, with the benefit of them stacking with potions of bark skin at the same time.

High dexterity will help increase AC as well, with the bonus of improving the base attack bonus of unarmed strikes if you have the Weapon Finesse feat. A bit of strength for added damage wouldn't hurt either (boosted by equipment if needed).

IMO Str based is probably easier for a Monk than Dex, at least at low levels - you suffer from Multiple Attribute Dependency a bit but at least you actually do damage, and don't need to burn a feat on Weapon Finesse. Zen Archery is an option, though (of course ranged is not so great in most NWN2 games).

Wis does make Stunning Fist etc. more viable but yes I'd say the main attraction is the AC bonus. The flip side of MAD is the fact that you can spread your attributes more efficiently - call it Multiple Attribute Benefit - i.e. you can have 14 Dex and 14 Wis for the cost of 16 Dex and 10 Wis, which gives +2 and +2 which is better than +3 (the Wis bonus applies even flat-footed I think as well). You can also get stat-boosting effects more easily and cheaply.

In my mod, Monks will be using the Ninja's ki system, so Wis will make a bit more of a difference, but as it is in the vanilla game, keep it to a decent level but don't strain yourself trying to bump it too high up.
