They talk about the cycle and how it's happened before, how it's inevitable. But for some reason I feel like they are slaves to it. At the dialogue near the end of Retribution they have a conversation with Kahlee, they don't want to get angy at her, they really do want to give her their side of the story. They want her to understand where they are coming from. Maybe it's just me but I feel there is something that we dont know about the Reapers that I hope we'll find out about in ME:3.

No. It is propaganda. It's just one of their many tools. Are you sure you haven't been indoctrinated?

Not even remotely.

Do I feel sorry for the Protheans? Yes. Do I feel sorry for the Collectors? Yes.

Do I feel sorry for the Reapers?

Don't feel sorry for them, no, but I certainly hope there's more going on with them than simply being ancient machines of organic hating evilness. Somebody had to have created them, or at least one of them, and I am kind of hoping their origins are explored a bit in ME3.
