"Failed to initialize the physics system."
"Please ensure you have an updated version of the PhysX System Software installed."
The what now? ...so I do some research, and I found out. Now NVIDIA says:
"Your PC's NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT is below the game's recommended specification."
" The recommended GPU to enjoy Mass Effect 3 is a GeForce GTX 550 Ti or higher."
"Check below to see some upgrade options."
"View full minimum and recommended Mass Effect 3 system requirements."
So even though I played through ME a couple dozen times on my PC, and transferred my most favorite of those saved games to ME2, and then played through ME2 another half dozen times or so...I won't get to play ME3 at all (saved game or not) unless I buy a new laptop, or hope that I can upgrade my old one? This is unacceptable.
Please advise of a workaround to be able to run ME3 on a system that ran ME and ME2 just fine with no issues.

The below may or may not help, it's worth trying though.
Try using Driversweeper to remove the old Physx drivers (select only the Physx box) and then install the latest from:
http://www.nvidia.co...111-driver.html
I hope this helps out.

I played both ME and ME2. I'm willing to try your suggestion, but I don't have DriverSweeper. Should I just Google it, or do you have a good link for a trustworthy place to download it from?
Try here: http://www.guru3d.co.../driversweeper/
Guru3D are safe, very well respected PC Hardware review site/community.
Once again, this may or may not help.
Good luck.

Then I installed the PhysX driver as well
http://www.nvidia.co...111-driver.html
I haven't had time to play the demo yet, but it is loading now, and I am no longer receiving the error.
Thank you very much for your assistance, CaptCleanOff.

There are four inter-related softwares involved, and you may have to go through all four. First, this is a Dx9 game, not Dx10 / 11, as are ME1 / ME2, but it might use some of the APIs in a unique manner. Second, drivers are frequently at fault. Third, PhysX is a separate part of the driver package, since it also has to run on the CPU for AMD graphics cards. Last is the game (Demo). Any of the four could have a corrupted file that affects ME3's demo without disturbing ME1 / ME2.
Have tried reinstalleing all 4, im beginning to believe that its the fault of the demo itself, because there is no way in hell that the first 2 games (and newer ones --->directx error is dismissed) would operate perfectly if i had problem with physx drivers.

OH MY GOD!!!! Found the solution!!!
Those who are having this error, simply copy the PhysXCore.dll from
NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Engine\\v2.8.3\\
(copy, do not cut/move!)
and paste it to :
\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\Binaries\\Win32\\
It solved the problem for me...

System:
Windows 7 64-bit
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 560v
-Edit-
Found a work around...finally:
Right click the PhysX .exe or .msi file and create a shortcut
Right click the shortcut and edit properties
In the Tab “Shortcut” there is a field called “Target” which contains the path to the .exe or .msi file, at the end of this you simply need to add a blank and then /quiet
Then OK, to save the changes and run the shortcut

i am running mass effect with no issues and fairly good performance on a geforce 8600 M GT that is a laptop version btw.
your best bet would be to update your video drivers most of these errors are not hardware but software based. the missing feature will probibally be in the latest release
not just the physix driver but the whole nvidia package for your card.

Ok, I've been trying to figure this out for over a month now. Installed ME3 with no Physx problems. Went back to ME2 to flesh out some save games. Had to uninstall Physx and let Steam reinstall the older version. Finished those saves. Uninstalled Physx again. Attempted to reinstall latest version from the redist folder in the ME3 directory. Upon reinstall I get a fatal error. Searched NVIDIA forums and it said that it was registry keys. I've cleaned all my registry keys, done a driver sweeper, and still, for the life of me, cannot get this damn game running.

Windows 7 64-bit

Can you please show an example of how the shortcut line looks. I tried doing this and it didnt work for me.

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect 3\\__Installer\\physx\\redist\\PhysX-9.11.1107-SystemSoftware.msi" /quiet
When you double click it, it looks like it does nothing but it actually does the installation without opening a window. Double check your program files folders for "NVIDIA Corporation" which is where the newest version of Physx gets installed. The ME2 version gets installed under "AGEIA Technologies."
-Edit-
I also just discovered with this workaround that both ME2 and ME3 work for me now without having to do any uninstalls/reinstalls of Physx.
So happy!

Goto C:\\Program Files(x86)\\NVIDIA Corporation\\Physx\\Engine\\v2.8.3\\ (or whatever is the most recent physx install directory you can get your hands on from the net). Copy all the dll files PhysxCooking.dll, PhysxCooking64.dll, PhysxCore.dll, and PhysxCore64.dll. Paste them into the same location as where you're mass effect 3 executable is located. For me it is C:\\Program Files(x86)\\ Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\. After I did that, the game ran just fine.
