Male AND Female = Redundant?

From a story point of view it makes sense, but if all characters are unlocked randomly then unlocking both genders feels like 'doubling up'. I hope male and female are both unlocked as standard in the full game, and personally i would pick the female over the male as she is a smaller target

Still, having male & female unlocked as standard does seem more realistic, honestly & it would be something I'd like to see. I typically don't like playing males in any game (unless it's forced), so I find myself deprived out of the classes with female locked...
I dig the whole unlock process though, keep you playing, the excitement & whatnot remains even after playing for a good length of time, all that jazz. Just might be nice to have both sexes available by default.

What is the point of this?
Answered in the same post. Since it makes a difference, they separated the two choices. I highly doubt hitboxes are any different between any kind of class. This isnt a per-pixel based game.( well ok i only guessing, since all unreal engines have hitboxes). UT99 had a warcow as a playable character, and it had default hitbox, which was quite funny.personally i would pick the female

I'm pretty sure Femshep and Sheploo have the same hitbox.

Seeing as you missed the point, there are huge differences between other characters in the same class such as krogan and human. Whereas having 2 different characters only seperated by gender seems very superficial, and redundant with the unlocking system
If Bioware intended it to be like that then i'd rather hear it from someone at bioware as opposed to your insightful post

There is no reason why they are not simply part of the customization of a character. There's no reason that there would be different characters that you need to unlock. Other than maybe BioWare planning to sell stuff like Male Quarian as DLC. Which would not surprise me in the slightest.

in the single player game, you can play a male or female version of sheppard. in the multiplayer, they give you male and female human options since people have preference to one or the other.
i played a femshep, and i would prefer the female human option over the male.

Why would their training be any different? - "Nah, you've already got PMS. No Adrenaline Rush for you"...

That's the thing. Why would their training be any different based on gender? It's simply an option, nothing more.cronshaw8 wrote...
The OP isn't saying he/she doesn't want to be able to choose a sex. They are saying if there is no difference in skills then they should not be separate classes. Male and female soldiers both have the exact same skills. Instead of making them separate you could create a "sex" choice in the customization screen and then have room for a whole other type of soldier.

Yes realistically that makes more sense. Male and female soldiers would recive the same training. But from a video game standpoint it reduces options
