The demo seems to begin in a place I wouldn't have expected.
Shepard, retired, on Earth, cozy with the Earth leadership from ME1 (who didn't listen to him then either)?
What happened to the personally refitted Normandy SR2, not in Earth's hands, and Shepard being an indie?

What happened to (depending on choices) Shepard having a Reaper schematic, being on the edge of the invasion happening, and the Illusive Man in general?

Just seems to have non-consented the plot of ME2 entirely, or had that be an 'alternate Shepard' with the one on earth being another copy that didn't get rebuilt and put out.

Shepard isn't retired he/she is on trial for the destruction of the Bahak system in the Mass Effect 2 DLC Arrival.

1) He's not retired, he's been tried and suspended as far as we know.
2) The Normandy SR2 is there it's just been re-painted Alliance.
3) Arrival happened, TIM is a plot hook for ME3.

The Reaper schematic was eaten by a scamp.
Shep is on Trial/ Forceibly retired.
This is a demo, so dont expect much.

How could we possibly know all that from just the first level? Telling us all that stuff would totally overwhelm the new players with information overoad, and would feel out of place anyways. Just wait a level or two and I'm sure we'll find more answers.

Plus, haven't the devs said that a lot of the dialogue changes based on whether you import or not? So it's possible our introductions will have different dialogue anyways. That's just a guess though.
