I am in Denerum now and I am doing all the side quests but I can not seem to find out where you start the main quest to get the ashes for the dude in Redciff.  Does anyone one know where to go?  I just started the Crows quests and I did the Civil War, and quests for the sherif.  thank guys.

You can start at Brother Ginitivi's house, acrossed from the tavern/bar in Denerim.

*spoiler?* If you've been commissioned by the bann IN redcliffe go into Brother Genetivi's house, pretty obvious from there out.

Yea I got to look at it. All I remember is to go to Denerim, but it not that it might have also said to go to Brother Genetivi's house. Thanks guys.

I went to Genevitis house and it said where he went by the lake, but I can't seem to find that location on the map

It is the Lake Calenhad Docks. Go talk to the inn keeper.

Talk to the guy in Genitivis house and read the book in the back room. No need to go to the tavern I think, but I am not sure.

if you have high enough cunning you can use dialogue options on Waylon, otherwise either go to the Inn or barge into the back room

Going to tavern gets you a piece of the Ceremonial Set IIRC.
