Extract from an EA Help Center chat -
http://imgur.com/dddOd

"I am sorry to inform you that such options of transfer the game saved data from one client to another are not available."

There's no way this can be correct... right?

Sorry if this isn't posted in the right place.

Completely false. Your save file has nothing to do with where you bought the game. It's true you can't import a save into the demo, but that's because there is no import feature in the demo. The full game will include this like it always has.

O.o oo boy!!!
the game save stores under u'r my documents\\bioware\\mass effect 1/2(3), i think it's nothing have to with DDS client origin/steam/D2D. ME3 will access u'r old save game files from there(Put the Mass effect 2 folder under bioware folder if u moved). correct me if i were wrong :)

Like thebadblackcat said, your saves are stored in My Documents\\BioWare\\, regardless of what client you've used to purchase and play the game on. So they will absolutely be importable into ME3 from Steam.

I think it's more that both ME3 and Origin are just cash cows to EA and they really don't know squat about it.

Hoo, ok, Got my response, and then the wife's SCREAMED into my ear. anyone else love shouldersurfers? lol

Origin is still pretty new, and bringing up transfer of anything at all from Steam especially is going to draw a negative response, capable of it or not.

Wife: Doesn't help that the tech support is in INDIA and can barely speak English.

She spoke to them a few days ago... guessing she's still upset.

@Sevrun wow i don't know who u'r talking too but indian tech support can speak and write better english then any other troll gamer's, the problem is did the tech support team ever played Mass effect or any other games from EA <<< they lack knowledge and that is companies fault who hire them.

Hey boss, don't ask me, I wasn't talking to em. You'll need to take that up with the wife when she gets her computer back from our son in a couple hours.

<-- Has gotten tired of being a go between and catching grief from BOTH sides.

Just a minute ago I was asking on the origin help chat line if origin was spyware and they kept dodging the question. Then they eventually closed on me lol.

I just want to confirm that your save games have nothing to do with whether you play Mass Effect on Steam, Origin, Impulse, Direct2Drive, Gamersgate, etc. No matter what, save games are always stored in My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save. Thus, no matter if you play the game in Steam or Origin, the game will find them. I transferred my game from being installed through Steam to being installed through Origin, and my save games were still detected. Steam ME2 save games should be imported by Origin ME3 just fine. The Origin rep did not know what he was talking about.

As I have said before: Save games are transferable from Steam to Origin without any action on your part. The importing of save games is independent of the service you have the game on.

They will automatically be detected as they share the same location no matter where you bought the game from.

Then you might want to bother to educate your people to that fact so they stop spreading incorrect information, yes?

What a concept.
