I have been trying to figure out my build and Charge and Nova are giving me the most trouble. So, I am very interested in seeing how people think they will spec Charge when the game comes out. Of course things are subject to change with theory crafting but at this point in time how would you spec it?

Feel free to include Nova as well! Image IPB

Here's what I and probably most people will pick.

Charge:
4th evolution: damage
5th evolution: power damage increase for 15 seconds.
6th evolution: 100% barrier increase.

Nova:
4th evolution: damage increase
5th evolution; power recharge reduced for 15 seconds
6th evolution: armor/barrier/shield damage increased by 100%.

I agree with pretty much everything except maybe the 4th evolution of Charge. Wouldn't it be better to Charge into a group than have a little more damage?

The other tricky one is 5th Evolution of Nova. As they both sound great. I think I am going to go with the reduce though because thats very very important.

As far as I know, that evolution is good mostly for detonation purposes.  Which is fine.  But with so many potential power damage modifiers that 30% damage bonus can be quite significant.

Never picked that fifth evolution but I'm doing some math and it definitely looks appealing.  The damage loss isn't as significant as I thought.

Thanks for the feedback, still have some time to figure everything out. I know I will want to reduce cooldown as much as possible so I can roll with Tempest, Evi and Mattock.

I think I am going to max Charge, the two passive skills, Inferno Ammo. Then max Nova if I can, get Cyro Ammo to the squad mate evolution and then stick a point into Pull. Or skip Cyro and have Liara use Warp Ammo. ShockWave looks interesting this time around but not a priority.

Does anyone know how many powers we can max? Is it one skill point a level for 50 levels?

My first VG build was a mini-Nova build. At first a thought it was a mistake and couldn't wait for a chance to try a better build. So I switch to my PS3 demo a went Heavy charge and cool down reducing Nova. But to me it had less survivabilty and wasn't as fun.

My mini-Nova build uses AOE, full barrier Charge, AOE,1/2 barrier Nova with chance to use no barrier use. Basic tactics: Charge, Shotgun, Nova, Nova, Nova(if no barrier proc'ed), Charge, etc...

You can max 3 and half way up two more skills. Also you really don't need 3 guns, just slap a smart choke on the shotgun and you have +150% cooldown and are still effective mid range

I am maximizing my vanguard to be able to charge as much as possible. This means only carrying shotgun and focusing on shield/health increases. Nova seems powerful, but a tad on the situational side. Most of my charges are into a group of at most 3 enemies so far and nova seems overkill for that. It might be handy as a backup if I charge into a large group, but I am not going to spec my powers around it. Going for more survival options myself.

will nova have synergy with either barrier or geth shield bonus powers? anyone else plan on sporting a handgun and maybe one other weapon and going melee?
