I had fun with the games, but I won't miss 'em. Shocked me to see them gone though.

I don't mind that they're gone. If you're going to have a hacking style mini - game - it needs to be better than the same boring stuff over and over.

Deus Ex got it right - otherwise - have the ability to order your tech based squad to do it.

But that its gone is a little surprising.

I know some gamers with disabilities commented in some places that the hacking problems were nigh impossible for them to do. It's quite possible they removed them in order to make it accessible to these people. They still kept in the element that required it take some time, so you can't just bolt through a door to escape combat though.

I personally liked them, but it's not a big deal either way.

Why have the door need a bypass if you only need to lock it until your enemies are gone?

I wasn't a big fan of the ME2 hacking and bypass as such, but I did like opening locks with mini-games. I can see the unlock thing that Shep does in ME3 getting very irritating very quickly as it's not exactly fast.
I liked the mini-game from ME1.

Me2 hacking was basically a memory training game, look at the picture, then find it....match items etc. Im glad its gone, i didnt find it frustrating but it just seemed awkward rushing into an epic battle then cracking open a safe to get money..

I liked haking very much be it in ME1 and ME2.
it was fun and rewarding and much better than the DA "step asside, you are to daft to do it, ho crap so i am I" said the thief.

I hope it is not gone

One more vote for "glad it's gone".

ME1's minigames were a complete overkill. Great game, as we all know, but it had its flaws, and just like the mako, the problem with the minigames was that there were far too many of them, far beyond the point where they stopped being fun.

ME2 at least realized that ME1 went overboard, and made them a bit more fun and drastically lowered the number or minigames needed.

Comparing how much the minigames add to how much they take away, I think ME3 won't lose much by doing away with them completely.

Who actually went hacking the moment he entered battle? And how is that different from running up to a door and starting an animation?
Why have items to pick up, they'll only detract from the epic battle, just award them after the fact? Why have side routes, and alcoves exploring just detracts from the epic battles?

The idea is that you leave these untill the battle has ended at which time you have a bit more leisure to pick up items and unlock things. They added to the things you did outside of combat and conversations. Now people are saying there should only be combat and conversations.

There's an old expression 'Be careful for what you wish for because you just might get it', well that expression more or less addresses what I think about the hacking/bypassing in the ME3 demo. It felt very weird playing the demo and seeing the ME3 version of bypassing. So for some reason it makes ME3 feel a little bit naked and lacking on the gameplay front.

I have probably been the most vocal hater of the hacking/bypassing mini games on this forum. Truth be told I never really had a problem with the Bypass mini game ( I would even go so far to say that there are times when I enjoyed it ). As for the hacking mini game, well I've never liked it and my hatred for that particular mini game only got worse when my older brother confessed to me that he was colour blind blind and I realised that he couldn't tell the difference between one line of code and another, it's all just random gibberish to him.

In my defence I've never ever asked Bioware to completely remove these mini games from ME3, my main issue with with ME2 was that both of these games pop up far to often in ME2 for my liking ( at least on the PC and the 360, the PS3 version has a much more tolerable balance of these games especially near the end ). It's one thing when you are on your very first playthrough but when you are playing through the game for anything beyond your 3rd or 4th playthrough do you really want to be going through these games again and again and again. I love Deus Ex: Human Revolution but I am never ever going to play that game more than once because the thought of having to re-hack every single computer in that game makes my blood run cold. It would have been nice if Bioware could have found a nice middle ground in ME3 where these mini games could have been present but for those of us who do multiple playthoughs just to see the different outcomes don't hav eto suffer through the tediousness.

I think it just wasn't in the demo. Not that I care about ME1/2 dead mini-games.

You do realize you don't have to. That's the entire difference between Deus Ex and Mass Effect. DX has more ways to get to your objectives and you aren't gimped by ignoring it, the problem with Mass Effect and the hacking bypassing is that you'll need it quite a few times to progress and a lot more times for money (plus a few research projects). Money isn't so abundant in ME that you can just ignore these minigames.

True, but I've been playing rpg's for most of my life, alot of gamers and developers will tell me that mini games arn't mandatory but it does not change the fact I still feel obligated to do them. In the case of Deus Ex: HR, most of the story and the in game lore is told through emails, to not hack a computer means I miss out on most of the story ( unless of course I have the passoword ).

Honestly i don't care much for mini games they are fun the first 3 times then they just get redundant and repetitive when all i want to do is loot and open a door to get on with the game. A lot of people were not into them and they stopped a small amount of disabled people from enjoying the game if i recall from the tech support forums so if removing some pointless mini games helps more people enjoy the game than before i'm all for it.

I didn't mind the hacking from ME2 all that much, there was just way too much of it really.

I liked the thing in the demo, nice and streamlined for doors at any rate. Reminded me of Liara's bypass shunt thing from LotSB, so it didn't feel like it came out of nowhere either

I don't care one whit one way or another. I'm just going to pretend the omni-tool got upgraded with an auto-bypass program to go along with its super-duper-holo-blade-of-DOOM! attachment.

I know, but it was an RPG feature

Your wrong there. Its not an RPG feature. You don't play a Role when you do these minigames. Your success depends on your own (the players) skill in succeeding at these games.

Autohacking is a RPG Feature (ideally it would be based on some skill), which is your character and his knowledge about Hacking is doing and not the players 'nimbility'

I am certainly not going to miss having to do these annoying Minigames. Although, i wouldn't mind watching Shepard to do the minigames for me. I think those Codepages (on which you had to select the right paragraphs) and to a less degree the circuitboard added a bit atmosphere to Hacking. The only annoying part was having to beat it over and over again.

I didn't have a problem with the way hacking was in ME1 or ME2...can't see why they wouldn't include it in at least the RPG mode.
