When this occurs, you will usually receive an error such as: "Communication with Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out. Try again later."

Yes but I found out you just need to click on the connect button again and it should give you a login, so you can activate dlc if needed. Don't have to be logged into to play or anything.

I have the same error. When I try to connect again it says my password is incorrect for my account, yet I can log in to Origin with it just fine and that I have all my old DLC, but I can't get any new DLC because I can't connect to the Cerberus Network in ME2.

Same for me as well, I suspect it'S due to some sort of conflict between origin and Ea online

Quoted for truth and emphasis.

It really annoying to need to connect manually everytime, especially with ME2 now crashing on me. Restarting my comp to hopfully fix that issue.

There is no one around to answer any more.  What does Kloreep's FAQ summary tell you?  What did you learn from the forum archives?  What did EA tell you on the EA Help Chatline?

Everyone here left ten months ago, and very few ever came back.  This was a self-help gamer to gamer place, but if no one now on the scene ever surmounted your problem, it won't help you a bit to keep on bumping.

Ok, so here is something I found that helped me. I had the same issue with ME2 not automaticly connecting to the cerberus network. I had a retail copy and registered it with origin, and I am using that copy to play. I, too, was annoyed with having to reconnect all the time. Anyway, here is the fix I used, straight from the pinned PC tech help post (like the 2nd or 3rd post).

2.2.10 I can't log in to the Mass Effect 2 servers/Cerberus Network.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, one thing you can try is to disable Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN). (Thanks Bogsnot1 for the heads up.) Open a Command Prompt (under the Accessories folder in the start menu) and type:
netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled

One of these days I will get around to reading threads like this one and culling what tips I can, but I haven't yet. In the meantime, if you have another fix to contribute that you can give me the summary on, I always appreciate having the possible fixes come to me. :)

I was having the same issue. After EA support not helping much and a lot of searching in the forums, I found the issue, Any special character will fubar the logon (see thread http://social.biowar...6/index/8932930). My password was special character heavy (4 of 13 characters, none '*'). Reset password to all alphanumerics. And Voila! No more issues.
