How much credits do you get on Gold the third and sixth wave?!
I didn't noticed, but surviving at least 8 waves, gives about 20~25k credits, I think a complete run would give about 50, maybe 60k

Biotics, overload, just about anything that strips barriers. They have an ability that can "dodge" your next attack, similar to how other enemies will roll out of the way. Now while all these things work, as others have said, nothing works better than a stasis bubble, and something really nice to detonate it with, like say, a vanguard.
Edit: Nearly forgot to give my grats to the OP, I've made it as far as 6 on gold with one rather good team, and even then the number of Atlas mechs and Phantoms, and GOD DAMN TURRETS -- I digress. It was getting silly
<3 Bioware for making something that on paper sounded like a marketing atempt at multiplayer and turning it into something awesomely addictive!
Concussive shot does jack s**t to them, at level 20 on bronze you take off one-two notches with a level 5 power... Frankly, you're better off using adrenaline and spraying them with avenger or tempest rounds. Hell, on silver I just try to hipfire them to death with my viper, that works better. the stasis bubble makes them really vulnerable though, especially if you have a mantis or widow, since they aren't going anywhere and their head is such an easy target.

I still have no idea what a phantom even does, I refuse to stay close to them for long enough to find out and they get killed by a grenade sooner or later.

To stop you finding out yourself in the means of science: they run up point-blank and rip your heart out. No possibility of rescuing you, you die instantly and cannot be revived until the next wave. They also have a habit of doing this while invisible and behind you. Smart move keeping them as far away from your face as possible.

I've figured they were close range, so I've just made sure to move around a lot and keep as many grenades between me and them as possible. Works wonders.
Then again, I've just been soloing bronze since I don't like playing with randoms:whistle:

If you're a good shot, you can shoot their blade and break it/disarm
them, leaving them with that slightly-less annoying
hand-plasma-ball-laser-thingymabob. Then again, if you're a good shot,
you may as well just shoot their head off and be done with it...

Oh my god.
Phantoms, guardians, turrets, and mechs everywhere. We were surrounded and gunned down in the most gruesome way possible. Only been able to get to seven or eight since then.

Then you go into the one room where you think you can get shelter, and guess what spawned in? like 3 Atlas's

That said, perhaps Bubble Stasis/Biotic Charge works wonders on gold as well? I was helping a Vanguard out on silver doing that, I'd stasis where he'd charge. Explosions everywhere.

Yeah Wave 9 is usually when ****** go up because not only are you trying to manage the Phantoms...somwhere in the level, six engineers just spawned and they are building turrets every 5 steps.

Uh, gold can go f*** itself. That's crazy.
- I will add that if I'm with a group from the BSN, I would be honored to die alongside them.

I got to round 10 on Gold with a squad of 4 in Noveria.
One Human Engineer, a Drell and Human vanguard, and a Turian Sentinel.
We were positioned in the Stairwell that leads downstairs by the catwalk, each had two missles, I sent my Combat Drone at the bottom of the stairwell to assist (It kills troops like nobodies real, I call him 'Lil' Conrad') and we fought off enemies valiantly.
Our objectives were thankfully all inside or right outside of the stairwell, and come round 7 we started getting Phantoms swarming and a minimum of two Atlases climbing the stairs at once, we started firing a single missle for each pair (the explosive damage from one kills the other as well) so we conserved ammo and took two birds with one stone...
Come round nine we spent all but two of our rockets, had Phantoms swarming us and Atlases climbing the steps but we realized the best way to dispose of either is focused fire, we saved rockets when we were only dealing with a single Atlas and Lil Conrad did well with his insane damage capabilities and we pushed back the Atlases' and Phantoms until finally the final two enemies stood, a Nemesis' and a Guardian.
The Nemesis used the Guardian as cover and a distraction and followed behind while the Guardian pushed forward, but Overload shorted out the Nemesis long enough for a sniper shot to penetrate the Guardian's shield, and we all focused on killing the damn sniper...
Then hell broke out in Round 10, we all positioned and ran into the stairwell yelling at each other for assistance with a minimum of FOUR, FOUR phantoms and three Atlases moving in, one rocket killed one while the second was behind a bit, the explosion from the first shorted out it's shields and we held the line before one by one our squad got downed, we wasted all our medi-gel earlier on and in the end it was me, Lil Conrad, and the Turian holding off against so many damn enemies and numerous turrets being deployed, we were inside the cove inside the stairwell and he popped tech armor on and took the damage while I spawned Conrad behind Atlases and Phantoms and shorted out barriers and shields and soon after incinerating them popping out from cover with my Phlanix dealing some serious damage with headshots...
In the end we died facing the final three enemies, a Guardian, Phantom, and an Atlas. The Guardian was a hellova' distraction for me, Conrad held him off for a bit but we couldn't get any shots at him with the Phantom in our faces, I shorted out the phantoms barrier and managed to get a shot in it's face when out of the blue an Atlas walks up and fires it's missile at me wiping out my shield and a second later I got impaled by the Phantom, and the Guardian had just gotten murdered by my drone and was killed by the Atlas when finally... Mister Turian fell over and died.
We survived 40 minutes of hell, yelling over microphones, and phantoms and atlases only to see the most horrifying thing... Our experience and credit gain? 100,000, and 25,000 respectively. It was a helluvamount of fun though!

Seriously...so many phantoms...it's not even funny!!
My friends and I successfully managed to do Gold today, we were all cheering with joy at how we succeeded.
Here's what we had:
Asari Adept w/max stasis, Human Sentinel, Infiltrator w/Widow & Vanguard Power/Nova & Claymore.
- Whenever a Phantom or Engineer appeared, I would use Stasis on it immediately and everyone (or minimum 2 people) would fire on it, namely the vanguard with the Claymore or the Widow Infil.
- Did I say how important that was? Whenever a Phantom appeared, we would call out the enemy and location and I would tell everyone when it was stasis'd.
- STASIS THE GODDAMN PHANTOMS AND DESTROY IT WITH DOUBLE WARPS . The Vanguard's Charge followed by Nova would ANNIHILATE those annoying beeches.
- We would prioritise. If an Atlas was a mile away, leave it. If there's a turret, call it out and leave it. Focus on Phantoms. If you saw an engineer, shoot it yourself.
- The Asari Adept is the one who traps all the enemies. Keep trapping.
- Sentinel's extra warp and Cryo Blast is precious. It stops enemies in their tracks.
- USE EQUIPMENT. And I mean EVERYONE USE IT. Armor Piercing, Inferno, Cryo, you name it. I had Cryo for crowd control + slow down enemies, my other friends had armor piercing, disruptor etc. Each of us had our best equipment for better power/shields + main weapon damage.
- STASIS THE PHANTOMS.
- Stay close or atleast within the same region of the map. Do not go too far.
- When your buddy is shot down, stay close and ensure the Asari Adept lives. If your Asari Adept dies, say goodbye to your Phantom-stopper and goodbye to winning the round.
- Cover. Don't think you're Rambo. That's the Vanguards job. Stasis someone and follow it with a Warp/Biotic Attack.
- Is an enemy on fire? Warp.
- Is an enemy frozen? Warp!
- Is an enemy in Stasis? Warp!
- Is an enemy in Stasis? Vanguard Charge!
- Atlas' are no problem. Just focus on them one at a time and keep moving around the map. Surround it, get behind cover (while standing, not leaning against it) and fire non-stop. With 4 people blasting it with powers and rounds the shield will be down in no time. Follow it with your Infiltrator-Widow combo + cloak and watch the armour drop.
- Is your buddy down? INFILTRATOR TO THE RESCUE. The Infiltrator + Cloak and rushing to revive people is the best thing ever. They don't get shot at and they can revive and run back into cover immediately while your other 2 partners provide covering fire!
- Voice Chat. Voice chat helps so much. Its easier to say "Atlas on the stairs, right of you!" than typing it. Voice chat is another tip to our success.
- You have to position yourself on the TOP of the map. You don't want to be shooting UPWARDS. In the sections where we had to run around we would ensure we would clear the area out and then capture the next data/computer/whatever. Don't do it yourself. Be with others.
- We always rushed back to the high ground on Noveria. That's the section where you're above the Stairs, you have a ladder to your right and the landing pad ahead of you. It's a nice section and the Phantoms keep climbing up the stairs.
- DON'T GO ALONE VS PHANTOMS UNLESS YOU ARE A VANGUARD. Even then the Vanguard may need support. So help her out with a stasis so they can do a biotic explosion.
- Phantoms are stupid and bloodthirsty. LET THEM COME TO YOU. If they don't then poke their heads with a few rounds to get them coming to you. That's when we would let them get close and everyone would concentrate fire on one target.
- Don't be a hero. If your friend is shot down and ahead you see 2 turrets and a Phantom and you have no support, leave them. It sucks but you gotta leave em. Or you could run around the map, lure the enemies on a chase and go through the other side.
- ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE. Hence why it is always a good idea to stay in cover and keep an eye out for those pesky plumbers who want to kill you. Cover cover cover.
At the end of the day, all you need is a good solid team who knows how to work together and have builds that compliment each other.
Do not go for the same class (e.g. x2 vanguards). You want 1 person with 1 role each. Enemy controller (Asari), Anti-Armor+Headshot carnage (Infiltrator), Biotic Explosion master + Phantom CQC (Vanguard) and your Freezer/Warp Buddy/Guardian Stopper Thrower (Sentinel).
It all depends. But that's how we did it. There's a lot to it but if all 4 of your teammates know each others classes and you experiment with abilities then you can do it.
Here's some examples of our combos:
[*]Adept Stasis + Vanguard Charge. Once Explosion then Adept Stasis on other enemy, simultaneously Vanguard Nova. Repeat until enemy is dead. Do you see an enemy behind the vanguard? Stasis and call it out. Vanguard does the rest.
[*]Sentinel Throw v. Guardian = Knockback effect. While knocked back, shoot at guardian.
[*]Sentinel Cryo Blast on any (unshielded) enemy + Sentinel/Adept Warp - Explosion! Woooo!
[*]Adept Stasis v. Phantom + Vanguard Charge + Adept Warp + Sentinel Warp = Phantom Death. The Vanguard doesn't even need to touch Nova.
[*]Adept Stasis + Vanguard Charge + Nova. Win.
[*]Adept Stasis + Infiltrator Widow - Headshots! Be sure to fire on the shielded enemy for about 3 seconds and lower the shields down to 20% before the headshot arrives.
[*]Sentinel Cryo Blast + Stasis + Warp - GLASS BOOM.
Etc. Etc. Etc. It'll take forever for me to type up everything but what you need are powerful weapons, strong abilities, a solid team, skill, communication etc and before you know it, you've done gold. It will get tough but don't stop! Support each other and you can do it.

The best way to deal with phantoms? Asari Adept w/ Stasis. Usually my stasis is recharged within 3 seconds, so as long as my teammates are taking down the phantoms, they are usually not a problem.
