i'm switching me3 to my ps3 for the mp. will there be drastic changes that effect the story if i do so? i.e will characters that lived on my 360 save be dead if i go to the ps3 without any prior game save there?

I believe that 360 files do not cross over to PS3, like I wouldn't be able to get my PC saves to Xbox. What they will probably do, like in the demo or Genesis, is something to pick all of the major plot points they want you to follow.

There is a PC program that can edit PC and xbox save files, I do not know anything about PS3 files thought. Try looking for ME save editor.
