Does anyone have any idea what the promote button does? I mean checked all my characters I have unlocked and I can't seem to use it.
So any idea or has anyone used it.

Some say that it is used to make it an asset in the single-player galactic readiness. Giving you a better chance at the best outcome of the campaign.
Even heard rumours that Sheppard will give a motivational speech to the chars you promote.

My guess is that in the full game it would be what turns them into a war asset for single player, but I haven't seen the button so I can't be sure.

Does it only appear when the MP character reaches level 20? I'm on XBox and haven't seen it.

I don't know but I have a level 20 soldier on the xbox as well so I don't know how it appears.
