Does the difficulty scale at all based on player count?

I would like to play this with just my wife, but it seems like the amount of the enemies is the same whether we have 2 players or 4, so playing with just 2 we get overwhelmed quickly.

Is there actually any difficulty scaling?  If not, are there any plans to add it for the full game?

I doesn't, no. Not sure there are any plans for that. Mode is really meant to be played with 4, sometimes 3. 2 is doable on bronze I imagine. 1 is asking for trouble :)

I really like that you've left us the option to play MP with any number of players we'd like. Just finished 2-manning a bronze round with my buddy. Most fun I've had in a long time.

With no player count difficulty scaling, match making really needs to be improved. I've still only had time to play around seven or eight matches (on PC) but of those I've only been placed in a full lobby once. The rest of the times it's been two people, or three once or twice.

Since completing these rounds is meant to be nessessary for unlocking ME3's endings, players will likely be unable to experience the most successful endings. Since they are virtually impossible to solo, players will be required to find a group of competent players to assist them with the challenges.

Does anyone else find this to be a horrible design decision?

MP is not needed to unlock any ending for the SP.  The devs have said several times while MP *can* affect the SP, it does not have to if you do not want it too.

It was my impression that you can get full "readiness" without going into multiplayer, however it's one avenue you could take if you're the type of player who doesnt enjoy completing sidequests/exploration.

Plus it isn't hard to find players to complete bronze, this is speaking after 2 days of playing and already its become something doable with just 2 players.

I've completed bronze as a solo infiltrator. Had to use a bunch of medi-gels, though. And this was without a widow. Just a Phalanx, pretty much.

Does the amount of Credits that you earn for objectives increase if you only play with 2-3 people, compared to 4?

I remember taking round 10 on Silver alone and succeeding. The best feeling I've had in a pretty long while when playing videogames.

So many Phantoms, engineers and turrets, then the two Atlas... sniped them to death x]

lol you are speaking about "game decisions" without fully knowing the actual impact MP will even have on the SP campaign.

Hows about we wait until the game is out and/or we have a ful understanding of how it all comes together before we rush to judgement about "horrible design decisions?"

The enemies does not scale but i noticed if you're alone the hacking time goes faster with less people.

Yeah I think any mission that has you fill up a bar, is based on how many players are in the game. If there is only 1 person in the game, the bar will fill up like there were 4 players there to help.

I made it to third round by myself on Bronze, in that big cargo place. :)

This. I rarely find full rooms, and when I do there's at least one guy who's AFK.

Not to mention nobody joins lobbies I start, even though they are set to "Public".

Did Bronze with two people on my level 19 Vanguard and a level 5 Drell Vanguard... it got quite hairy towards at wave 10, but luckily the other guy also knew how to play defense.

That being said, matchmaking has to improved, there's way too many times that you are with two other people in the lobby and the fourth person just won't join. It's not as if there aren't enough players to go around, so I wonder what the problem is.

Just keep at it. Except for 2 games I have solo'd my Vanguard to level 14 now all by myself. Haven't completed a mission completely yet, but I have gotten as far as Wave 9 on bronze.

Once you get to about level 10 or so its pretty fun solo and should be very doable to completion with 2 players.

Sure, you may have intended us to play as 4-player teams. However, you gave us the ability to set up private games and to play solo. This should have been factored into the difficulty scaling. Sure, if you're persistent, and are not easily frustrated by multiple deaths, you will eventually earn enough EXP to level up and therefor make soloing easier in the long run. However, I suspect there are many Mass Effect fans who have no desire to party-up with randoms, and because Mass Effect has traditionally been a solo experience, expect to retain that feeling of "this is my game, my story" and would prefer to solo the MP on principal.

BioWare has done a good job of thinking about the type of people who will play Mass Effect and the different ways people will play. You've given options for shooter fans who don't care about role-playing (Action), role-player fans who don't care about combat (Story), and those of us who want to experience both sides of that coin (RPG). You've also considered that fact that not everyone has played ME1/ME2 before and given us a way to select key story components from the previous two games. So why haven't you considered the various ways you've given us to play the MP when balancing the difficulty scaling? At least it seems you've considered player count for countdown timers on objective waves.

I just wanted to chime in and say that this multiplayer feature is a ton of fun - you guys have really, really done a great job here.

As for playing alone I made the mistake of starting my first game all by myself to get a feel for what to expect and now I have become addicted to playing alone.  I'm getting close to beating all of bronze - need to level up some more though for the final few waves - but I'm really glad that there is still a ton of difficulty left with silver and gold.

Hats off to the guy upthread who did level 10 silver alone - I can't get passed that on bronze yet with my Adept.

Who can I bribe to get the Asari unlocked?

Bronze is soloable, but you need a L20 character with pretty solid weapon unlocks. I can do it fairly reliably on a L20 salarian infiltrator with either the Viper or Widow + L5 ammo/barrel upgrades.

I got halfway through Bronze by myself, but it just got too hard when I had to kill the 4 targets (and I bet when I got up to the Mech's and Phantoms I would have to be very vigilant...)

I've come close to soloing Silver with a lvl16 Infiltrator.
