Seriously, stop with these threads. Stop analyzing past years and please, please, please stop with the whole ****ing "COD-era lololol" crap.
Bioware made good games with ME1 and ME2. I have faith they will do good with ME3. If you don't want the game, don't get it. Herp derp.

Mass Effect was released in 2001?
then why did I pay $60 for it at Best Buy in December 2007?
DARN YOU BEST BUY!
That was a joke.

Well, that is what I was trying to imply. There is nothing wrong with wanting to expand your audience, but there is something wrong when you do so by intentionally dilluting your game's mechanics until it's virtually indestinguishable from everything else.Dreadwing 67 wrote...

This is just what it feels like to me. I hope I'm wrong.
Nothing wrong with making it more appealing to the greater masses, that is never the problem. It is taking out TOO much from the core and ruining it that becomes the problem. As much as I want to defend ME3, I don't have it yet to say:crying:
You do realize they added some of ME 1's rpg mechanics back into ME 3 such as weapons mods and abilities such as carnage and sabotage. Not to mention they appear to improving on armor customization. I also noticed my Shepards leveling up a few times during the demo.

As long as I still feel like I'm playing my same Shepards, and I have a completely different experience with each Shepard, I'll be happy.

Did you read my post? I want ME3 to succeed. This is only a small part of my mind venting.
I bring up the COD-era argument as it has had a significant effect.
And I damn well do want this game.

At the risk of drudging up the same thing for the millionth time, the intro - which has been confirmed is as it will be in the main game - that basically canonized Sheperd at the expense of making him/her what you wanted, leaves me feeling this will be a lot less unique experience this time around.

For crying out loud, why do people always have to bring up DA 2 in an ME 3 discussion? Dragon Age is not Mass Effect. I am a fan of both franchises but they are completely different franchises, different settings, different gameplay mechanics and styles, different fanbases, and different dev teams. Why can't people figure that out? Just because they both have bioware/EA logos on the box doesn't mean they are the same thing. It is completely illogical and irrational for people to keep saying "but DA 2" in a freakin Mass Effect 3 discussion.

I hoped ME2 would be as good as ME1 and ended up disappointed (good characters but not much of a main story, things that I expected to see refined simply taken away or replaced by inferior materials).
I still had trust with DA2 and actually defended the game versus the "doomsayers" and "haters" even after playing the demo and ended up burned bad by the actual final game which I found as much disappointing as "they" said it would be.
Once bitten, twice shy, I didn't like the demo but what I want to see of the game wasn't in the Demo so I haven't cancelled my pre order but I do have lost my trust in Bioware and while I'm still not with the "doomsayer" and "haters" I'm definitely joining the doubting Thomas.
(I do pre order ME3 because I do want to see the end no matter how lame it is, but if it doesn't blow my mind that's my last Bioware pre order).

Because Dragon Age 2 was a game that people had high hopes for due to the sucess of its predecessor, and it didn't live up to peoples expectations.
All the guy said was "I felt really let down by DA2 and I don't want it to happen again" He's not criticising Bioware, and the fact that the games aren't similar means nothing. He's only saying that he was looking forward to DA2 and it wasn't as good as he expected it to be, and he's worried ME3 will be the same.
It's no different to saying "I was looking forward to X, but it wasn't as great as I though. I hope that it isnt the same with Y". That statement is perfectly fine no matter what X and Y are, whether they are related nor not.
So stop this stupid "uhhhh dont mention DA2, its ME!" crusade, becuase Its only an example of a game that didn't meet people expectations, and its only being used a lot here becuase since this is the Bioware forums its an example a lot of people here can relate to.

Honestly i have not looked at one review for a game i've bought since... well since 2010 I dont think. I just buy what I think I'll like now adays.

Names and symbols mean more then individuals and teams. It's unfortunate but that even holds for marketing, design, and companies as much as people and soldiers.

DA2 wasn't ruined by appealing to more people, it was ruined because it was rushed, and Bioware got pressure from EA to churn the game out while it was still hot. As someone who loved DA:O, there wasn't much changes to the gameplay, but what made it not as good was the story, not time to add more depth, and lack of exploration and repeated environments because they didn't have time to make new locations. Time was what effected DA2, not appealing to a wider audience.

Exactly, I want to know if the changes are worth the money and effort. What better way to do that than by hearing the critiques of others who have played it?

I wouldn't relate Baldur's Age: Origins or Dragons Gate II to Mass Effect in anyway, except voice acting and the re-use of voice actors.
