I was just browsing the interwebs for pictures of Harbinger, when I found this:
fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/341/0/3/mass_effect_2__harbinger_reference__by_troodon80-d4i8dst.jpg
After looking at it for a while and looking at Harbinger in-game, I've been getting this Keeper vibe from Harbinger.
I don't know why, but he really reminds me of the Keepers.
Since we don't know much about the Keepers, and with today's codex leak about Harbinger being one of the oldest if not THE oldest reaper, do you think there could be a possible connection between Harbinger and the Keepers?
:)

Harbinger is the oldest and largest reaper.  Man I am excited more than ever when I think of finaly encountering him.  But yeah it looks like he was there from the beginning and is probably the first reaper ever created.  He may have even been created from the same species that the keepers came from.  I am also curious what Sovereign's overall status was in relationship to Harbinger's.  Were they both the head hanchos of the reaper fleet or was Sovereign Harbinger's suboordinate?

So it all boils down to "Sever the head to kill its limbs", aka if we kill that one reaper all 1000 other reapers will die?

Sovereign was probably Harby's second-in-command I would think, considering he had the most important job out of all the Reapers.

If they're going to portray a war then the 'everything dies with Harbinger' line is kinda cheap.

But given that wars can drag out years or possibly decades given the potential scope of the warzone (an entire galaxy) I am not privvy to any spoilers at all, have only my own notions of where the story will go based on the decisions available in 1 and 2 and don't particularly want to know what will happen. It could all just be an elaborate set-up for a Mass Effect MMO after Harbinger's killed.

The Keepers are either the first, or one of the first species to be reaped. So if Harbinger is that old, it is certainly possible. My personal theory is that the keepers were the second species to be reaped however, with the first completely uploading themselves to reaperhood.

Thing is the reapers needed someone to maintain the citadel and then open the citadel relay so I think the keepers were created at around the same time as the original reapers.

They cuold have been created at the same time as two parts of a system for ensuring the oringinal creators didn't have any competition. Just unleash them every so often on a cycle and you keep everything down.

That leaves a question about what happened to the creators, upload is possible (wife and I discussed that possibility earlier today) or a software glitch resulting in their own demise at the hands of their perfect weapon. or like the Geth, they simply broke free.

My personal theory is that whoever created  the reapers, reaperized themselves into the first reaper which was probably Harbinger.  Then again the question is did these creators create the citadel to or what is the reapers?

I also think the first species willingly reaperized itself as a way of achieving eternal life. There are hints to that I think in the way that the Reapers talk of the process as 'ascension' and in terms that suggest that is an improvement for organics. Of course with a population of billions or trillions I'm sure there would have been plenty who weren't too keen on having their conciousness merged with AI programs, but they were probably oppressed and destroyed by the faction in power. Maybe that was the origin of Reaper indoctrination: to control and subdue those first dissidents.

So if Harbinger is kind of the defacto head Reaper, does that mean Soverign was his protegee?

Harbinger looks more like a bug then the cuttlefish shaped reapers which makes sense if he is a the oldest and a kind of prototype. Sovereign may have been the youngest? I'm just taking a wild guess but the reapers may leave the newest reapers behind to start the next cycle as a kind of initiation.
