When I should I play the Mass Effect 2 DLC if I want all consequences to carry over into Mass Effect 3?

I recently purchased ME2 and I plan on purchasing all of the DLC's. My question is: When should I begin playing the DLC? Before the suicide mission? Or after? I ask because if some of you can remember (from ME1) you had to complete the DLC before the final fight with Saren if you wanted all possible DLC consequences to carry over into ME2.

I have already heard from several people that if you survive the suicide mission that you continue playing after the credits (unlike ME1). However, when does the save file stop saving? For example, if I were to complete Lair of the Shadow Broker/Overlord/Arrival after the suicide mission will it still carry over all consequences to ME3 without me having to play through the game again (and create a new save like we had to do in ME1)? Or should I just play them before the suicide mission?

Sorry for being wordy!

Please provide proof with your answer!

Thanks!

Play them when you prefer. AFAWK, it will not matter as long as you complete the SM in ME2: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Save_File_Transfer#Mass_Effect_.E2.86.92_Mass_Effect_2_.E2.86.92_Mass_Effect_3

Okay. Thanks for the help! But, that article doesn't really say whether or not the save file stops recording after the suicide mission. In other words, if I complete a DLC after the suicide mission, is still going to transfer to ME3? Do you have an article that explains that?

Well you have to do arrival after the suicide mission for it to make sense

Yes you can play all DLC after the Suicide Mission. The save file stops only when you stop making saves to it. :)

Do you have any proof GravityEyelids? Sorry for being so confrontational, but I don't want to waste my time doing DLC after the suicide mission if its all going to be for nothing (.... like ME1).

If in doubt, just play them before.

It wouldn't make sense for the DLC decisions not to carry over if you play them after the suicide mission, because the DLC came out after the main game did. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it seems silly for BioWare to make people play through the entire game again, presumably making the same decisions if you were happy with what you did the first time, just so that the DLC decisions carry through.

It doesn't make sense, but that's how the system worked for the first game (ME1). If you wanted all of your DLC decisions/consequences to carry over to ME2, you had to play the DLC before fighting Saren.

I just wanted a mod's (or Bioware employee's) opinion on what to do for the ME2>ME3 transition. However, since I've never really received a clear-cut answer, I've decided to just make an additional save before going to retrieve the IFF. That way, after beating the game, I can just go back and finish the DLC, turn the difficulty down, and finish the game a second time with all decisions/consequences intact.

Just to be safe... :)

Thanks for the help everybody!

That save game will not be necessary. The import system is different for ME2 than it is for ME1. Remember that after you killed Saren in ME1 you could not continue the game and finish uncompleted requests. The game is over. Any save made after completing the suicide mission is flagged by the game as "complete" and is eligible to be used either to start a NG+ in ME2 or to import into ME3. You'll actually get to choose which post suicide mission ME2 save you want to import into ME3.
