I'm sure many people have managed to beat gold. How did you do it? Got
pictures? Want to rub it in the faces of all the other people who have
been unable to beat Gold or perhaps give them tips on how to manage a
successful playthrough?

I streamed my Gold playthrough so the video is saved, so you can head here to watch it.

Note: Sometimes the sound stuttered it's a bug with my broadcasting tool Xsplit, however it fixed itself every minute, other times I had to quickly alt-tab out and fix it. If you don't like it, mute the video :P

In the end we had 1 Phantom but she was stuck inside a wall, thankfully
we had a Vanguard who had shockwave and it saved our lives.

What
class did you play? Any tips for others? Got videos of your
playthrough? A video is also helpful, I find observation is a very quick
way of learning new things.

Tips:
  • Teamwork is essential. If you don't have a good team who can communicate effectively, say goodnight.
  • A decent all round team who knows their strengths and uses combinations effectively.
  • Strong Weapons help a lot. Upgrade them too. Add Armor/Ammo mods.
  • Ensure you have crowd control.
  • Power Combinations are super-effective.
  • Voice Chat is very handy (as seen in the video).
  • Don't stray too far from each other unless it's all clear. If someone calls for help, help them.
  • Keep moving and flank enemies or stay put and cover fire.
  • Nothing bad with spraying. Or using anti-armor weapons v shields.
  • Infiltrator Cloak + Revive is the greatest way to save your friend.
  • Provide covering fire and if possible use abilities to slow or hinder enemies who are behind your allies (Stasis, Warp, Carnage, Overload etc) Anything to make them knockback in pain!
  • In a nutshell, ensure you have good defence strippers (Engineer Overload or Warp) to remove Phantom defences and then have a vanguard charge in and knock them down.
  • Do not go Rambo. That is the Vanguard's job.
  • Don't focus on one enemy all the time. Weaken a target who is under fire by your friend and then move on. You will get an assist and in the meantime that enemy will die, allowing your buddy to help you with the next kill. Repeat.
  • Try not to corner yourself into a room for too long.
  • Live. And when you are very desperate USE your spec-ops kit (the stuff that gives you your shields & health back).
  • If you're under fire from a lot of enemies and have around a bar of health w/no shields, wait for it to regen.

We had:
- Infiltrator w/Widow & Cloak. The Infiltrator was brilliant. Not only does the headshot damage kick ass with the widow but with an Adept's Stasis you have a clear and easy kill.
- Vanguard w/max Nova/Charge. Combined with Stasis the Vanguard can set up huge Biotic Explosions non stop with Charge + Nova. A Vanguard should time the Nova so it's used right before the Charge Regens. Claymore is awesome for VG too.
- Asari Adept w/ Max Warp & Stasis - The Asari should focus on trapping high-target enemies in order of: Phantoms, Engineers, Centurions. Now it all depends on who is where but you can trap as many enemies you want and Warp them. The Vanguard can follow your stasis and do a charge. The Sentinel can do a warp and spread out the stasis effect.
- Sentinel. Now... the Sentinel compliments everything. She has Cryo Blast & Warp & Throw. The Throw helps knock back Atlases. The Warp compliments Asari Adepts and Stasis. Cryo Blast  + Stasis + Charge = Glass shatter. Pure Crowd Control and it's brulliant.

Once again, click here to view the video on our ridiculous success on Gold. I can't believe we managed it. But you can do it if you just take a few tips from the video... or a lot of tips ^^.

Update: We beat Gold on Mars Colony today. It was far easier and less hectic than Noveria, I must admit. A lot more movement and clear long ranges for us to fire down on enemies from 1 section.

http://cloud.steampo...6DCD1AACEA0510/

Here is the video of my friends and I attemping Gold on the Mars Colony and managing to succeed. Hope you enjoy it and take some handy tips from it as well :)

- Infiltrator with Widow only + Disruptor. Max Cloak Damage, Weapon Damage & Fitness with some Cryo.
- Vanguard with Charge / Nova as before
- Asari Adept with Stasis Bubble (which was far better than the regular single Stasis)
- Engineer with Area Overload & Incinerate/Drone.

We experimented a little with other classes, this time we had an Engineer and a different type of infiltrator which focused more on damage and it turned out well. Snipers on this map are brilliant as you have some seriously wide open areas in the centre of the map. The added disruptor ammo was a nice bit to 'shock' or stun enemies. Ammo power is up to you, but I preferred Disruptor. You can see how we did it from the video above.

Again we prioritised on Phantoms and if there was an Atlas we would whittle it down and the Widow really kicked in good this time. Oddly, we found Gold on Mars easier, which was a good thing. I don't think I honestly panicked as my job as an Infiltrator was to ensure I gave maximum damage to stasis'd targets while the Engineer ripped off enemy shields non-stop. Twas great!

I wonder how the Reaper Husk enemies will be on Gold :\\

Got to wave 8 once, gets pretty hectic there.

Last game I joined was already in progress on wave 1 with everyone dead/dying, I frantically revive everyone like 5 times each (thanks Cloak) but it was sadly not gonna happen, turns out I was grouped with two level 1's and a level 3, sigh.

Tell me about it. It get's really tough. I hate people who play Gold and focus on getting "the most points." It's all about surviving and getting through it. If you believe getting the highest score matters, it doesn't.

What matters is everyone lives and gets through Gold. If you focus on 'the high score' and 'I wanna be highest bestest broski' then it's not going to work well in order for team and overall success.

Yeah that was the sentinel who was detonating the Stasis, along with my warps and my other friend using Vanguard charge or nova to cause the explosion.

It's all a mixture of Biotics and explosions. They really do help more than people realise, heh.

Managed to do it with a group. Me, as an Asari Adept, with a Human Adept, Human Vanguard, and Human something. Can't remember. We played two games, first one in Firebase Ghost, wiped on wave 9. A phantom took us from the side. Managed to execute two people in as many seconds, and by the time I turned to hit the stasis, I took an Atlas rocket to the face.

Second try was on Firebase White, where we held the line pretty much. Luckily, the missions were rather easy, comparatively. Activate the comm beacons, they were all in our general area and easy to get to. Then two kill missions. Almost had full extraction, too, but one of our people got hit with two seconds on the clock.

As for my advice on how to beat gold...To be perfectly honest, I think an Asari will be required. Bubble Stasis to knock down Guardian shields, to freeze Phantoms for the kill, to nail an enemy in place while you revive someone at their feet. It's an extremely useful skill.

Phantoms are, by far, the deadliest of the enemies you'll face on Gold. Atlas, while dangerous, are slow, lumbering, and easy to avoid. Phantoms will just sneak up on you and slaughter your whole team right quick.

Teamwork is indeed essential. If your team isn't working together, covering everywhere, you'll just get killed by someone that sneaks up the side, be it Phantom or Assault Trooper.

Beyond that...Practice makes perfect. We only had two people on the mic; me and one other person. We'd call out Atlas and Phantom locations so the whole team knew where. We did wipe a little on the early waves of the first game; never completely, but enough while we were getting it together.

**It is my feeling that, since I played as an Asari Adept, you're likely to be the most important person on your team, simply because Bubble Stasis stops Phantoms so good, that you'll be using Stasis far more than anything else. And, at times, that may be all you're using. Especially on later waves when it's just Phantom after Phantom with an occasional Atlas thrown in,**

Did it with a three man team. Two asari adepts and a human infiltrator all rocking viper rifles. Add stasis bubbles and you are in business. It was a 52 minute titanic struggle.

I got to like wave 5-8 on Gold and it was really hectic and fun, it reminded me of playing Killing Floor on Hard+ and watching yourself slowly get overwhelmed and wondering if anything will happen that will save your asses.

Tried it a second time and we lost on the first objective round, we had to kill a specific enemy and we didn't do it in time.

Got to wave 10 on gold with an Asari Adept, Human Adept, Human Vanguard, and Human Infiltrator. We got wiped out by Phantoms while killing Atlas. I swear that wave had like 7 Atlas because we had already killed three and were surrounded by two.

Last time I tried Gold (last night), we had a pretty good mix - humangineer (me), human Adept, human Infiltrator, and human Vanguard. Everybody was level 19 or 20. Ended up at Firebase White, which is usually a good thing for one's survivability.

Things went pretty well until Wave 8, when people started having to use medigel, but we stayed in reasonably good shape until Wave 10. That's when the balloon went up. We got what I figured was the worst possible position: an upload site on the landing pad. It's the same defensive position that you get to use during the extraction wave, but we a) had to be there for way longer and B) had to deal with enemies coming up behind us, which you don't get on the extraction wave. They were basically able to outflank us with Phantoms and whatnot, but we didn't have the luxury of using their flanking routes to escape once the job was done.

We managed to hold out until the upload was finished, but we weren't able to prevent two Engineers from setting up turrets on the landward side of the fighter. When we tried to escape to a more defensible position, the turrets and two Phantoms cut us to pieces. Any of us that tried to revive were wiped out pretty much instantly. Cheesed me off, I can tell you that.

If we had any other objective than holding the upload point at that specific location, I am utterly convinced we would've won that. Dammit.

How much gold? I think we got 39k for our game that we finished. Quite a bit, if you can knock out the missions fast for the bonuses.

@daqs To be honest, I never found Engineers that much of a problem there on gold. We just stayed where we were, and they came to us. The few times one tried to put up a turret, I'd Stasis him, and someone would snipe him in the head, and the turret would explode soon after if not instantly.

@hurnt14 Yeah. Them Phantoms, they sneaky little ones. Atlas knocks on your door and says "Hi there! I'm selling insurance!" And while you're busy trying to convince him that you are satisfied with your current insurance policy, company, service, and would not like to swap to LEG1T LIF3 INSHURANSE, the Phantom sneaks in your back door and burgles your entire house. You only find out when you finally manage to close the door on the Atlas, and your pants are gone.

Won with a few friends on gold.

Qaeta (me) - Salarian Infiltrator
lexpar - Human Vanguard
roowf - Quarian Engineer
ODD_Quasari - Asari Adept

Was an insanely fun match.

Edit: Oh, BTW, we were all on skype together calling enemy positions and calling for revives and whatnot.

I notice you tend to strip away shields before detonating the stasis bomb. I just unlocked my asari adept today and was wondering why you do that, since my adept seemed to be able to detonate shielded targets under the effect of Stasis just fine? So your vid had me wondering if there's something I don't know about :)

Sounds like a painful experience. I'm not even going to attempt it until I get a mic; probably near to impossible without voice chat.

My guess is for two reasons.  First, because he's waiting on the cooldown for warp and second because an explosion by itself won't (or probably won't) finish a shielded enemy.
