The problem with noveria, is that the landing pad gets swarmed with phantoms. That's what makes it difficult.
On Mars, you just have to watch out for engineers placing turrent and you will be fine

I found double Asari adept a Turian sentinel and a Salarian Infiltrator to be a very good combo for white. 2 CC's while myself and the infiltrator sniped to holy hell, this did cause problems with all the Atlases we faced, but we mostly just took them all down one at a time and moved around the map as a team, the infiltrator healing whoever went down. We also got the luck of the draw by drawing 1 kill 4 key targets and 2 defend location objectives. I pug this **** of course, but I don't seem to run into much trouble if the group is well geared and competent. one person goes awall and there is no way in hell of finishing, though I really do hate wave 10 >->

Heh yeah, I agree with both of you. The landing pad had about a row of 10 Phantoms. Thankfully we had Stasis w/ Vanguard charge + double warp to knock them back off the edge but it was horrid. If the Adept missed, you'd have around 3 phantoms pop up in that section. It's a good thing my aim in using stasis was good and I didn't miss them as they appeared or else... >.<

Mars was far easier indeed. It was a LOT more relaxed and we weren't being seriously swarmed. Phantoms could either come from the right, middle or left but we always had the Vanguard around the left area, the Asari swapping between middle/left and both the engineer and infiltrator in the middle right. When the call came, everyone would go to one section to remove phantoms and then return back to one area. If an Atlas got too close, we could go to the right and left in teams of 2 and fire down on it, then return back to that southern house-hut.

It was a lot better than Noveria xD.

Noveria or Mars, if you get a hacking objective at wave 10 at the extraction zone, you're screwed. That's all there is to say. I actually thought Noveria was much easier than Mars cause when we did it today we hardly died at all. On Noveria the elevation provides excellent cover from the Atlas which are rendered useless because of multiple bends + elevation hiding your from their view. On Mars the fact you can see them from far away also means they can see you & shoot at you while you try to take care of phantoms and whatnot. I think Mars is overall harder and provides less solid cover. On Noveria you can always go inside and hide from enemy view entirely while on Mars there's always windows/ladders and opportunity for the enemy to flank you.

@daqs To be honest, I never found Engineers that much of a problem there on gold. We just stayed where we were, and they came to us. The few times one tried to put up a turret, I'd Stasis him, and someone would snipe him in the head, and the turret would explode soon after if not instantly.

Engineers weren't intrinsically a problem. They were just advancing under cover of Phantom and Centurion attacks from the rear and Atlas fire from the landward side. You can't kill em all.

Like Leeroi said, if you get a hacking objective at the extraction point on Wave 10, you're basically screwed. I distinctly remember saying "**** me" as soon as the objective marker came up, because I had a feeling I knew what we were in for.

Gold is actually pretty simple (relatively speaking, it's still ****ing hard.) as long as you can lay down who does what within the first two rounds. For example: playing as a Salarian Infiltrator, it was my job to stealth kill phantoms and do the Enabling/disabling objectives because of my cloaking, while a soldier was in charge of fragging engineers and their turrets.

...the key to winning though is you NEED an Asari Adept. Stasis is invaluable

Two Asari Adepts and at least one infiltrator/engineer and gold has been a breeze for me (relatively speaking.)

THANK YOU BUBBLE STASIS!

In all honesty. I've beaten Gold and only got around 50-54k in no less than 35 minutes every time....
I get around 37k for Silver in 20-25 minutes.
So in 1 hour I can either have 100k to 108k for Gold or 111k to 148k for Silver (3 to 4 games on Silver in 1Hr).
So in my opinion Gold needs to up the cash pay out or it is COMPLETELY not worth doing.
One, because I have to use my best equipment to help shorten the time as much as possible.
Two, because its so hard in the first place.
Three, I will always be able to beat a Silver faster and more times within an hour time frame.
And Four, 300k XP is not enough to bring me to Gold when I can make around 200k XP in Silver.

I really want to see bigger pay offs credit wise for Gold for me to ever want to spend time beating it.

Also another fun fact, doing Bronze with the same team I took into Gold only managed to beat it in 19 mins so by that logic, the shortest amount of time you can possibly get may be just 18 minutes. Also our Silver runs and probably most of you guys Silver runs will take around 20-25 minutes on average like us so there is no need to ever do Gold. Image IPB

Now that you said that, it kinda makes sense.
To tell the truth, if you get any of timed events on the last wave, you're screwed, the game will keep spawming phantoms like crasy as long there's a timer up. And they will be right on top of the objective...always...

We just won on Mars with a hacking mission on wave 10 although we were 3 infiltrators our Vanguard DCd. So we pretty much just stayed in stealth and capped it then kited all the phantoms/atlas/junk around the map.

Yup, beat it on Noveria. Not even that bad imo. Used two infiltrators, salarian and human, and two adepts, asari and human. The infiltrators took out the shields/barriers and would revive team mates while the adepts easily finished off unshielded foes. Energy drain, cryo blast, stasis, and singularity helped dominate the phantoms.

Wooo! Nice, level 20's really do kick ass on Gold. If you're anything lower then it is more of a challenge but if you have a good team then you can do it :)

I would say otherwise, there is a spot which make run as a cake, just sit and defend. I've made to wave 9 with other infiltrator duo on gold. With 4 peoples it is even boring some times :D

Sometimes it's just luck of the circuit, what objective you get and where it's located. Phantoms are a problem but if you prioritize mobs right and watch everyone's back you should do fine. When Objectives are up I like to target the Atlas and kill it with a rocket ASAP just to remove that hassle out of the way.

I hate to be "that guy" but it isn't Mars. Firebase Ghost is on a planet named Benning.

Regardless, congrats on beating Gold. I plan on trying it tomorrow. I'm a level 20 Turian Sentinel and Silver is getting a little boring.
