as for the long trial, it couldn't have been more then 15 minutes (becasue honestly, even the most hard core fans will start fidgeting at that point) and putting the plot of 2 games into 15 minutes is... well, we saw how Genesis turned out and it was just one game.

Genesis was a comic though. A trial would be involve actually controlling what Shepard says, instead of sitting and listening to him, until they offer a choice. Which they're doing for this game anyways.

Shepard never talked for 2 or more mintues without any control though. He's doing that now.

Another thing is them making the game for new comers. They've already said they added new dialogue for people who never imported. And dialogue ain't cheap, and most fit without seeming like an bad insert.

that could have coded some of the auto choices into a demo, to smooth it out, minimize space and spoilers. it could be just that starting scene.  i mean - think about ME2 intro.  how many dialogue choices are you getting there exactly?  not that many.   the bulk of the conversations and choices starts later. and even then, theconversations are usualy at most a few minutes long, if you make your choices continuously, without pausing to think (which I don't do nowadays, since I know which options I'm going to pick in advance)

there are choices in Genesis.  but its purpose was to tell people about what happened so far as let them pick key decisions.  trial would have to do the same.  so try summariing the plot of 2 games, while giving players that many choices that they don't relaly understand, straight off the bat?  and returning players?  they already made their choices.

So you say.  However, I think Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 were fine.  Why encourage new players to try to play through Mass Effect 3 differently?  People who select "action" can't even customize their Shepard.  I think the game is going to be great, but it wouldn't have hurt them, at all, to have RPG be the default choice.  If it isn't broke, then don't fix it.

I mean seriously. Once ME3 comes out, I will probably NEVER come back to these forums, as I'm pretty sure the crying will only get worse once the game comes out.

I wouldn't have THAT much of a problem with ALL THIS B*TCHING, if you people were actually serious. More than 90% of the people who b*tch and moan on these forums buy the damn game anyway.

If you're one of those people, I hate you. I hate you with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. Because that means you're simply b*tching, just to b*tch. It means you don't actually care about what you're b*tching about. You're just b*tching.

B*tching is now the secret word of the day. Pass it on.

What do you mean "default choice"? There is no default. You pick one of the three as soon as you start the game. There's no option that gets automatically picked. You HAVE to choose one. One of them isn't default. :P

ME2's intro didn't have much choices in the beginning because you were mostly running and gunning. But when you did meet someone, you had a full Investiagtion options with Jacob, Miranda, TIM. And more then 2 replies a bunch of times. While the demo has nother but 2 options. And I've seen the leaked version, and it only had one investigation bit in a deleted scene.

And again, Shepard doesn't ever talk for 2 minutes without some control over what he says next. The longest Shepard has talked to my knowledge is in LOTSB after a paragon interrupt. And it was still under a minute. Unless you know another example that you can bring up right now that's longer.

It just seems like nothing is ever good enough.  I loved Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.  I think I'll love Mass Effect 3.  But developers are constantly being pushed to do more and more to expand the market.  Where will it end?  What will they do in Mass Effect 4 to make the game even more acceptable to new gamers?  What about Mass Effect 5?  It's a trend, and one that I'm not happy about.  For a franchise about choice, to even give the option of taking away that choice seems asinine to me, and making it the default choice...  it just doesn't seem right to me.

Action is highlighted by default.  It encourages new players to stick with it instead of tinkering around, as most new players will just go with what the game "recommends".

As I said, Genesis feels long because it's just you listening to Shepard, while pictures pass by, and making a choice once in a while. As well as inserted after the Normandy attack, adding more length to the intro. If you actually had more control over what Shepard said, and weren't looking at just pictures, it would be a lot more enjoyable.

Also, I doubt the trial would summarize ME1 and ME2. Most likely just Arrival and the Reapers. Because talking about anything outside of that would be unrelated to the trial.

I clearly stated in my post that I understand that they wanted to put it in alphabetical order. I'm saying that was not the best choice. You tell other people to go back to kindergarten, when you yourself seem to lack reading skills.

I thought that was the whole point. I agree with The Tesla Effect. There are three game modes there for multiple play styles. What is the problem? When you click these options the menu clearly states what each mode does. Heck, hovering over RPG mode even says, very first thing, "The traditional Mass Effect experience."

New players who would just 'accept that as the default and play' aren't taking the time to even read menu options, so what makes you think they're going to care about dialogue options? Not only that, but why are you worried what other people do?

Also, suggestions that one style should be 'recommended' over the other defeats the purpose of multiple modes. Yes, let's offer three options, and then place a bias on one over the other two.

I get it, Isotopel, you're bored. You played the demo and you don't want overdo it on the multiplayer so you can enjoy it when the game comes out. So now you have to wait 17 days until ME3 finally comes out. What do you do in the mean time? "Complain" about the dumbest thing you could think of. You are really just trying to show everyone here at BSN that we are being silly about complaining and we should go back to being excited about the game.

And I agree! I am excited! Who's with me?!

Really OP?? This is the best you could come up with the complain about? That is just sad...

I have other complaints, but they were already expressed in many other threads. This issue hasn't come up before, so at least be glad that I'm not posting repetitive crap.

Besides, why exactly is my complaint "sad?" The least you could do is explain yourself.

The complaint you have is "sad" because out of all the other problems with the demo, yours is because Action comes before RPG and Story. What if Story was first instead of Action? Would that be a problem too? It was pretty apparent to me that they were put in alphabetical order, not in order of how they would like you to play the game through.

I don't care about the order. You know why? Because the only sort of person who would pick it without looking through the other options is an idiot. And I don't care about idiots.

You do realize that insulting somebody who disagrees with you is no way to get your point across, right?  I can't speak for
Isotopel, and I know that some of the things that he's said haven't been very helpful for the discourse, but this isn't a stupid complaint.  Trivial, perhaps, but not stupid.
