Which Bioware genius thought of the idea of binding 3+ actions into one key?

Sprint
Interact
Cover

Should be 3 different keys. Or are we whining, asking too much?

It's not whining if it negatively impacts our ability to play the game.

in a nutshell: it sucks- its because of xbox and ps- it wouldn't take much to program in-they won't change it no matter how much we talk about it

hey here is a new tought maybe they ll add a 40 euro dlc for it, that might work

Why should people pay €40 for a gameplay patch?

Sprint, Cover, Dodge, Interact, and Revive.  All on Spacebar.  Really?

Which one of you thought of this brilliant concept?  Or was it a group brainstorm?

Yes, a horrible design decision expected from the likes of Bioware.
The function to run and hug cover needs to be divided. All other functions you listed are not an issue.

Ill just be blunt, i and other Volus' do not like you. We Volus are smart enough to rely on cover to stay alive. You are foolish to believe you will live through a barrage of bullets.

P.S. You whine a bit to much.

As said, for console users, I understand the logic and simplicity of controls, they're using a gamepad afterall so....they can't do much.
For PC users, it's totally silly and actually a bit alienating. We have access to a wide range of keys that are used in pretty much all games, and FPS in particular. This has always given us a greater flexibility and reactivity. Stripping that down to a simple "does it all button" is not just bad game design, it's actually a bit insulting :)

Hopefully a release day patch will sort that out and allow us to map these actions the way we want, or to use the combo system. There is no logical reason not to, except pure wish to alienate us :)

Will they allow us to use more the keyboard is the real question though...

The secret to mastering ME3 multiplayer is to master the action key...  the less mistakes you make, the further you will go and survive longer.

Don't know if it has been mentioned before, but you gotta use the same key to roll as well, so that's 4 actions right there. They should've made use of Q and E keys.

Seriously. This is like the PC standard. Although I think I'd prefer roll on Cntrl and inventory on Q.

Most importantly, run and cover need seperate binds on PC at least. Going into cover instead of running really does eff you up in the game.

When I first played the demo and wanted to interact with the first medigel and had to press the sprint button to open it, it was like "wow, wtf are you thinking Bioware!?!?"

It's fine, appart from revive, that should be on a different button.

This.
Alternatively they could just make sure the magic button really does what players expect it to do ... and our characters wont start hugging the nearest chest-high wall, if the prompt on the screen tells us to push the button to revive.

Shift: Storm/Tumbe/Cover
E: Use/Revive

That's my preference. And that's kind of how I have it set up now. I have Shift as the main action key. And E as an alternative. So I forget I can press shift to revive, because I never do. This doesn't solve the problem of reviving someone near cover and then screwing that up, but it does help me purposefully position myself to do what I want to do most of the time.

one day of coding and:

e = use/revive
space = cover
double tap direction = roll
shift = run
alt or control = command menu
q/z/c = anything else I'm missing

Derp. Even  Kingdoms of Amalur from a new studio as well as INDY GAMES  have different keys for all that. Bioware are well established and have extraordinary funding yet can't do this 1 hours worth of coding?

I'll just copy paste my comment from the "Is it just me or are the controls terrible thread"

"Tap to roll,Hold to cover and sprint. simples
Although i will agree that making it revive in multiplayer was retarded."

Playing single player insanity engineer earlier. So many tries. All my deaths? Shepard hugging cover I didn't want her to hug.

I hated cover/sprint/vault spacebar in ME2. For the love of the Goddess, why do we have to endure this again?

This is one of those times where you can say, legitimately, "They're trying to appeal to the Gears of War crowd".

Because its your action button. Commonly done on consoles...the almighty "A" button on Xbox, "X" button on PS3.

Awesome button is awesome.

No it's not. Even on Gears of War they have "use items" button on "X", instead of cluttering everything on same button.

Well to be fair, Gears of War ate paint chips as a kid, and didnt have many controls to begin with..."Y" button was "look at point of interest!! and Reload was on the RB (dumb)...even though X is reload in every other shooter. So yeah...interacting with objects was put on the X button. But, like ME3, all your movement was a combination of the A button and the Left Stick. Both games...you had to hold A to sprint, tap A to evade, hold A to get in cover
