I primarily use Overload as a stunning/staggering cc move, rather than a defense stripper (although it's great at that too.) I'm not a terribly great shot, so anything that gets an enemy to stand still for a second is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not too keen on the human Engineer's drone, though. I throw it into a crowd to provide some distraction, or summon it behind a Guardian to get it to turn around, but mostly I'm using Overload + Phalanx, with the occasional Incinerate finisher to save on ammo.

Haven't really used the Quarian engineer yet, so I'm not sure if she'd fit my playstyle, but I'm really liking the human engie so far.

Meh, enemies have to get out of cover to shoot you and with a chaining you can also damage others.
Properly upgraded it destroys any shield or barrier except the one on the ATLAS. 
And it combines nicely with Incinerate. 
Not to mention that the stun really helps when your in a tight spot (out in the open with one or two enemies).

I got my Quarian around level 15, so my sentry started with flamethrower, so I can't say how bad it is when you first get it.
