Have you played the Mp? It's not small by any means the Gears of War3 "demo" was just as big btw and it was Mp only.Farbautisonn wrote...

Oh yeah I should say I'm playing the demo on the xbox. FYI no they are not the final product otherwise I would have hated Battlefield 3. My whole it's a demo thing is more towards people that complain about something that's not in the game but have not played the full game. Like I have heard people complain about the game not having a dialog wheel and stuff. Those complaints kinda seem a little premature. It's a demo! It's for people that have never played to see it, I have had countless people say "wow I'm getting this game now, the mp was sick but the story looks amazing" but idk I have been wrong before. Im sorry if anyone thinks im trying to change how people feel im not at all, just wanted to voice mine. Everyone feel and do what you want all I know is I will play and enjoy ME 3 launch day. Thanks for one hell of a ride Bioware can't wait!
Premature? Nope. Not really. Demos and betas are generally indicative of the gameplay. If they cut away a vast piece of the dialogue, it would require a five second post on the boards to notify us of that. "We cut "x" content for "x" reason. Sorry to have gotten your knickers in a twist". The end.
Its a 2 gig download. I seriously doubt that dialogue and lore is something that requires a
hefty megabyte allocation.
I also have doubts that the Bioware team (ex rpg players and story peddlers as they are) would be happy with this if they got it fed to themselves. Then add the scare some of us got
from DA2. Add to that the EA reputation and "Doom and Gloom" self fullfilling prophecies
that have come to fruition one time too many despite EA assurances of the opposite.
If the demo was made to cater to the console and fps crowd which usually isnt the targetgroup for Bio, then I get it. Its got some glitzy new abilities and new
(diffrent/worse?) graphics.
Im a Bio fanboi. Allways were. I cut them some slack... alot of it... with DA2. I read the reviews and I listened to friends and checked the boards. And I decided to not buy it, at
least for now. I thought they were making good strides in storytelling in ME1 and 2. And
then I get a demo that has basically zero history and immersion factor. That scares the ******
out of me. Ill be happy to be wrong, but I see the ghost of Bullfrog and Westwood studies
lurking in the shadows if this game fails to deliver.

I dont want a FPS multiplayer game from Bio. They have a great record for storytelling. I dont give a crap about MP. I wont be using it. If I want to blow the heads off people in an FPS there are other games that do that significantly better than Bio. Biowares forte is in storytelling. Its what I want, Its what I shop for, its why I have been supporting them by buying their products.

You can't really judge anything by the demo... Apart from the horrible visuals & animations. Still, I think the demo's an early build who does NOT represent the final product... Well, I can only hope.

Exactly. The last thing I want Bioware to do is to spend their quality time on some generic multiplayer.

Reminds me of a saying about CCP Games about bugs in EvE Online.
If you report it, they'll ignore you
If you post about it on the forums they'll ban you
If you exploit the crap out of it, you get rich.

In cases where people complained about a demo Kingdoms of Amular since it's both published by EA and recent. The devs were quick to reasure people those problems were fixed in the retail and guess what ? They were.
Since no Bioware representative seems willing to step up and do the same I can only conclude it's because that is what you are getting in the full release (as it was with ME2).
If you want to waste your money on something that sub standard be my guest but will you reinburse people who took your word "it's only a demo" if the release proves as bad ? I think not.

I think they tacked on the multiplayer just as an incentive to buy the game new, instead of used.
But I won't be surprised if the multiplayer will be the best portion of the game.
Not really a good thing, as people will get Mass Effect 3 for the singleplayer.

I'd love for it to sell well, but I do not want Bioware to change the core of the game in order to attract the FPS crowd. No good would come from that.

-This again.
I want the storytelling to be the focus of Bioware games. Just as it has allways been. I dont mind the "branching out to cater to a new client base (IE the MP shoot em up crowd)", but I do mind compromises on storytelling. Because if the storytelling suddenly starts to take a backburner, then Bioware ceases to be Bioware and then just becomes "generic_EA_money_sponge_with_new_title_bi_Yearly" untill it looses the oldtimers and then has to rely completely on the whim of kids who want "stronger, better, faster, more glitzy" instead of "good storytelling".
Its not the first time EA has pissed an IP or a studio down the tube to make more money faster. And that scares the crap out of me. Again, I just hope I am having the jitters.

Flashbacks of Westwood/Pandemic ?
I'm not sure what effect a DA2 style ME3 reception would have. But DA2 really shot Biowares aura of invulnerability in the gaming press and once the sharks sense blood who knows.
Based on the demo there is certainly enough to really rip into them to the DA2 level. I'm sure EA will grease the usual suspects though.
The problem with people who come because of the shiny will leave as soon as they see something more shiny. That's never been the case with the core fan base at least until DA2.

These people got the memo via their EA accounts for owning Battlefield (and I don't even like that game as a FPS). We RPGr's are hosed.
I do need to see how this story ends, but I'm sorely dissappointed with the demo except for the music scoring and voice acting. If they're going to ram a canon script down our throats don't even bother calling it an RPG at all? Just make it a first person shooter. And if they're going to do that why not just make four squad members playable and make it like Halo Reach and be done with it? If this is what EA has in mind for Bioware for the future I'm done.
