Why is Kaidan so much more popular then Jacob?

Strange. I actually liked his LM - more original than many others (c'mon, Garrus, revenge mission again?) in sense of that brainwashed by his own father crew.mrsph wrote...

*His loyalty mission is pretty weak. At least for me, outside of the final scene there really isn't anything that memorable about it.

It is not racism, that just helps some of you deal with it in your head because you hate VS.... I have black friends who love Kaidan and white friends who love Jacob.
As far as it goes, I love them both and they are both decent men, some of you should follow their example and spend less time focusing on what you hate and starting threads aimed at causing bad feeling and come up with something genuinely interesting to talk about.... ¬_¬
You worry far too much about who we females are romancing

Ah one of the peaks of Jerkcob.
The reason I don't like Jacob is writing of the character. Either they inteded him ot be that way or his writer were high while working on Jacob.
Some other peaks of his idiocy:
- Right after you talk with TIM first time if you talk with him before leaving for Freedom's Progress his first line is: Do you trust me?...
- In ship if you say you will be watching him because he is Cerberus he tries to intimidate Shep. By telling he will watch you too... And who are you? A soldier under Shep's command. How wise can it be to tell that kinda thing to your superior? This guy suppose to be a soldier for quite sometime.
- After acting like TIM's lap dog he takes a turn and act like he was all suspicious about Cerberus, TIM and their motives. Especially after Derelict Reaper.
- He volunteers for going into vents. Brilliant.
Funny thing:
Joker says Jacob too cool for the number of ways he knows how to kill a person. I play on casual difficulty and that tool keep dying on nearly every encounter. Probably he is too cool for number of ways he knows how to die...
I am not a fan of Kaidan either but Jacob is total fail in ME 2 squad.

Anyway. I like both of them. I just like Kaidan more than Jacob because Kaidan is Sexy Smart and He is mage (Biotic). I like his voice too and I don't care about He share his voice with Carth Onashi. the last, I think Kaidan & Carth is difference, except his voice.

Latent racism no doubt...
...except as has already been pointed out, Captain Anderson is black and is one of the more popular characters. Jacob is disliked because he is a standoffish ****** with nothing interesting to say.

To put is simply, I would have coffee and cookies with him, but would knock myself out in a bar with Kaidan. M.

Jacob is simply strange. His voice, the thing he says.
Kaidan is sweet. And he seems so strong and self-controlled...

For me it was "So,TIM didn't sell us out. Could have fooled me." moment. I mean, if anybody should have said that, it would be Miranda. And again, he wants to go after the IFF immediately, and pushes about it. Idiot. Apparently, she understands better what means to be a good leader, he just wants to rush into things. Only once I let him lead "the other team", and then only because I wanted to hear MIranda's opinion on the matter. That's not a good operative in my book. Oh, yes, and the nose. He has a huge nose
. But I don't hate him, he's just not so interesting.

I get the feeling Jacob will never make a good leader. He is so short sighted and gives himself too much credit. However game mechanics favor him as a good leader pick during Suicide Mission. Samara or Zaeed are better candidate for Leadership. On side note, I love Miranda's reaction if you pick Tali as first fire team leader.
Hmm maybe that will sound strange after all the negative things I've said about Jacob but I find him hot. Typical hot guy 'till opens his mouth.

Jacob is just boring. And yes the way Hale did the voice work when talking to him made me keep all my female Sheps away.
Plus from a gameplay perspective neither is all that helpful in combat. There are better biotics in both games. I played with Kaidan only for the achievement. And Jacob get to leave the Normandy to recruit Mordin and for his loyalty mission.

I just remebered... On my first ME playthrough, I've sacrificed Ash, just because I thought "well, she's just a common soldier, many more from where she came, Kaidan is an officer and can do more then just point and shoot". Simply, it seemed as the logical, rational choice to keep him alive. Only later I started to appreciate his character... And eyebrows... M.Darth Asriel wrote...
I have sacrificed Kaidan in every playthrough.

1. Shep's only been conscious for one week. It feels too soon to start a new relationship.
2. Femshep's dialogue with Jacob is creepy. Initially, after their talk I reloaded and avoided him.
3. After visiting Horizon, Kaidan sends you a heartfelt letter about how much anguish your death caused him. He only just started dating again.
4. I pursued a relationship with Jacob despite all of the above, and if you tell him any of your burdens, he's basically a dick. If you say you want more than a casual romance, he says no, so we just became friends. His romance sucks.

I can't see that.
At the beginning he always sends you away with his *forcing talks* thingy, but then he gives you a bro hug and suggests to spill some drinks with you after the mission is over.
Made him pretty sympathetic to me.
Also, some people say he never opens himself, doesn't speak about his problems:
Doesn't that make him unique in a way?
I mean I like Thane, Kaidan etc, I like to listen to their personal problems and everything.
But as Jacob says himself (in this dialogue where he breaks up with you when you won't stop pushing him), he can handle his own stuff, he doesn't need psychological help.
Is that a bad thing?

Not at all!
He's also the only LI that asks Shepard how they're coping with the stresses of the mission, only LI to tell Shepard they love them, and one of the only LI's to have after romance dialogue.
Not to mention EVERYONE has dumb lines while being romanced or just during the normal conversations... Jacob just seems to get the worst abuse of it.

Personally, I don't trust people who want to know all about my issues, but won't open up about themselves. I don't dislike Jacob, but his insistence that he was perfectly fine after the incredibly disturbing events of his loyalty mission made me back off from trying to get to know him.
My Shepards can be buddies with Jacob, but I wouldn't consider his character a good friend.
