So, I tried the mod for the first time today (on Mimi's recommendation, I might add ^_^), and I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm definitely using your ME3 ENB from the 1.0 release. Prior to overwriting effect.txt with the additional one provided, everything works perfectly fine, and I like it a lot. What exactly is the purpose of a separate effect.txt file for film grain, when the .bat installer already takes care of this choice? Certainly the end result is already quite grainy, though I'm not sure if it's supposed to be even more so.

Oh, and you might want to edit the above posts so it's clearly stated the target folder is actually Binaries/Win32 in the case of ME3. Could save someone an embarassment when they waste the better part of an hour trying to figure out why the damn thing wouldn't work :P

Ahhhhhhh I figured out the bug! I was stupid and put the wrong stuff in the installer x.x. I've updated the file: https://www.dropbox....nema Mod V1.zip with the fixed Mod.

+Good point about the target folder. Yes, in ME3 it is indeed Binaries/Win32. (:

In other words, since I used the old batch file that wasn't supposed to be there, I've just installed the previous release (which would be v0.5), right?

I'll check out the real thing soon-ish then, thanks! :D Meanwhile (though that's probably borderline nitpicking on my part ;)) the updated archive apparently has some leftover MacOS files, plus an old readme that's still referencing the .bat installer. Might want to look into this, v1.0 being the definitve release and all. B)

Hey MrChowderClam:

how can I reduce the Cinematic effect you made.. to something like this:

batman-arkham-knights-8-1024x758.jpg

alien-isolation-960x623.jpg

Is like the same image filter you made, but maybe only at the 40%... I need to edit the "effect.txt" file?..

Thanks for any help....

EDIT: maybe I found it xD  with float ShiftSamplingRange=2.00; I can increase or decrease the effect.. am I right?

** Also, there is any way to use this filter on DirectX11 games?

Yep! That controls how much the green and red channels are shifted. I don't think ENB works with DirectX 11 games unfortunately :(

MrChowderClam:

I felt the need to again say thank you for your great Cinematic filter v1. I've been installing and editing it on my other games, and WOW .... the change is immense, THANK YOU for doing this ... I was playing on my old Dirt 3, and looks great on my monitor, is another game, like new!

And of course ME3:

Batman Arkham City looks great too:

Also, I've been trying to use it on Dead Space games, but every time I open the game goes APPCRASH, do you know some trick or some way to use it in the Dead Space saga? this filter would look amazing in those 3 games.

Saludos. ;)

Hello.  I installed the ENB for ME1 and everything is black except for the lights on the galaxy map.

Help would be appreciated.

Put a screenshot here to see your problem, maybe you just need to increase the brightness in game menu...

Hmm, that could be the problem.  I wouldn't have thought about that since I have only used ENBs for Skyrim, which almost always requires the lowest possible brightness.

I'll be back later with an update.

EDIT # 1: What is the purpose of the .DS_Store file?

EDIT # 2: Apparently, I had installed the bugged version of V1.  Once again, I will return with an update.

If you're playing the Origin version, I've found that Origin in-game doesn't always play nice with post-process mods. Try disabling that and see if it doesn't fix your problem.

.DS_Store files are used by the Finder on OS X for storing folder metadata. They're normally hidden on Unix systems, but will show up on Windows since Windows doesn't understand that a leading period means "hide this." They have nothing to do with the mod, no need to worry about them.

I appreciate the response.

Anyway, yes, I am playing the Origin version of ME1.  Are you suggesting that I disable Origin in-game?

Yes. I can't promise it will fix your problem, but it's worth a try. Also, other applications that draw overlays on top of games (e.g. MSI Afterburner or other similar utilities) can likewise cause problems with mods like this one. You might try disabling such programs if you're running them.

Having the same issue here, it worked perfectly, but now every time I run it I see all the black screen, except for the selection markers and menus, don't have any app runnin on top of it, and if I remove it, it goes back to normal :/

I'm having the same problems as some other people. When I run the game the whole screen is black. Only thing I can see is my cursor. But when I click Shift + F12 to turn the enb off, I actually see the game. I'm using the v.1 of the mod. And I'm sure the Origin in-game overlay is disabled.

I have used ENB for Skyrim and never had a problem lke this before.

Another thing that can cause problems are post-process AA. If you're using FXAA for example try disabling it.

I have disabled Anti-Aliasing in "MassEffect3Config.exe". ENB still does not work. Using SweetFX works great though, so it will have to be good enough.

Well crud, it seems that the mod doesn't work for me anymore. Whenever i launch the game, even with in game Origin disabled, the screen just stays black eventhough i can interact and i can hear the sounds, strange.

edit; Ah, haven't seen people posted similar problems, my apologies.

maybe it has something to do with the windows version? I tested it on Windows 8.1, and yes, SweetFX works just fine

Hum, maybe as i am on Windows 7. I just don't see why the mod would suddenly stop working.

Weird thing for me, is that the mod worked well then suddenly it stopped and I got the black screen, but removing it solves it, maybe it has to do with some updates or permissions

I tried this mod for ME3. At first it worked, but now ME3 won't even load and crashes on startup.

Funny thing is I also have the mod for ME1 and 2, and they work. So I don't know what's causing it.

EDIT Now it wants to work. Da fuq...

EDIT2 It is being very temperamental. It will crash on startup, then it will load, after two or three crashes.

EDIT3 Also sometimes this string of code in green appears at top-left corner:

So I think I narrowed it down. If I install the ver 1.0 mod without film grain, it loads up normally no problem. If I install the film-grain version, it crashes two times on start up and then loads on the third.

Does this make any sense to anyone? Bear in mind that I installed the colour mod from page one of this thread and haven't had any problems with that version's film grain. Ver 1.0's film grain makes me think of ME1 which is why I'm inclined to keep it, but unless there's some kind of solution then I might just revert back to the colour mod.

Hmmm what are your system specs? Could be a driver issue with ENB.

For those of you with a black screen, the problem is with Origin updating :(. To fix, open your Origin install directory (usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin) and rename IGO32.dll and igo64.dll to IGO32.dll.disable and igo64.dll.disable

This disables the overlay wonkiness that messes with ENB. You will need to repeat this every time Origin updates, sadly :(

I've got an AMD Radeon R9 200, latest drivers (Catalyst 14.4)

8GB Ram

Win 7 64-bit

It was working fine before I got ver1.0, but maybe I didn't install it right? I just copy and pasted the ver1.0 files into my Binaries directory. It loads up and plays normally, it just sometimes will crash as I load up. Once, twice, three times I think may have been the most, then the next load up it will load fine and play normally. Very rarely will it have the green code text pop up in the top-left hand corner like in the screenshot. That happened a few hours ago, but that was the first time it happened in the last couple of days.

It's not a huge problem, it's just annoying. Mainly because it didn't happen before and now it does, but when it loads up properly the game works fine and the settings work as well.
