So I love the mod but I do have a request if it is at all possible. I mainly use the mod for the film grain and I noticed the shader that you use doesn't change the grain over time, it only looks like it changes when there is motion in the picture. I haven't looked too closely at the code, but is there any way to add a randomization element to the grain amount so that it has that natural speckle effect?
Yeah i've been trying to wrap my head around how to fix this. And I can't think of a way atm :|
If you're interested, here's my basic reasoning:
So right now, there is a noise texture (provided in the ENB dxd9.dll) that is (i think) multiplied with whichever channel is the brightest and then interpolated with the rendered image. This makes the image look grainy. I was thinking of having the I don't think you can generate random noise textures in HLSL. From what I understand, there is only a function to generate random numbers.
So what I was thinking of doing was changing the multiplication over time (so alternate between multiplying with R and G every 500ms or something). I thought about alternating the actual noise texture over time (which is probably the ideal solution), but this wouldn't be possible without creating a whole new version of the ENB dll with more than 1 noise texture, and I can't do that because ENB is closed-source.
On top of this, all of the version of ENB that I can get to work with ME3 (except for the v0.107 ME3 beta enb) have no timer variable, so it's impossible to actually alternate via time. So I would have to use something provided by the image (right now it's camera movement)..
Can I say this is my favourite project ever?
I first posted here because lack of film grain in ME3 made me miserable, among other things.
The game looks a trillion times better thanks to you OP, so thank you again, really.
I've taken a look at ME1 again, and the film grain was not only moving, it had also some sort of watercolour effect.
Now, i understand your explanations, and i've noticed something you said earlier about film grain during Allers' interviews. I was curious if OP or anyone had investigated that further, maybe that could be a "layer" or special effect that could be modded?
(I don't know what you're refering too here since i never let her on the Normandy tbh).
Also, I'll gladly help on this.
EDIT> I'm assuming OP refers to this kind of film grain (this is from Leviathan)

Actually, this looks very very much like the one from the mod, only it's more dynamic probably (sorry, didn't have time to make a live comparision.)

I'd like to know, as well.

Not right now, sorry! The origin overlay uses the same injection technique as ENB (and they don't play nice together)

So did anyone ever figure out why Mass Effect 2 kept crashing every time I tried using an ENB?
Were you using the ENB I made for ME2? (I think you mentioned it, but I can't remember). It should most definitely work

Thanks. Yep - that's what I was thinking of! Sadly, I don't have the technical know-how to turn that effect on at all times (it looks like its three seperate layers, really: vignette + noise + contrast. Just need to get rid of the vignette & contrast and reduce the noise levels to taste).
Are you assuming here, or is that something you saw from the game files? I mean the 3-layered thing?

The game doesn't crash, I tried to diseable Origin in game and to rename IGO32.dll but it doesn't work...

again, the film grain only setting of the mod still alters the color saturation of the game, how do i change that back down to me3 levels?

Posted here months ago, worked great then, but now the mod stopped working altogether, no error message or anything, just no change to graphics. Is OP still here or... I mean seriously this is one of the best mod for ME3 out there.
Did you try the DLL renaming trick?
I know there are issues when there's an Origin update.
But I've had troubles lately with the automated install somehow.

Same here as Dest1ny, except i use Origin. Is it possible to not use Origin?
Disable the Origin overlay, it uses the same injection process as ENB.
