Elven Alienage in Denerim (possible major spoilers) - Offer from "someone"

However, if you decline his offer and finish him off, not only are you doing the "good thing".... you get to loot him for some decent stuff to either use or sell, get to whoop that cocky mofos a**... but the store owner will sell you items which included for me, a book that gave me +1 to my attributes (which I added to constitution anyway) as well as a point to spend on a skill.. and it only cost somewhere between 12-18 gold.. not to mention for some he may or may not sell extra backpack space (for me he didn't, but I believe it's random for most people as to where they get it other than a few spots... for example I found backpack upgrades from merchants my friends didn't and vice versa).
Plot timeline SPOILER:
I haven't seen anything here on it, so I figured I'd share that with everyone. And if you are reading this, as a mage I didn't get to enter the alienage until partway through the landsmeet mission going towards the end of the game.

Heck, I took the middle road my most recent run and spared his life for surrendering, which nets you nothing at all. My Warrior's a nice guy like that.

I suppose I judged him to be beyond redemption.

You let a blood mage that has no regret about sacrificing and enslaving people go?
I suppose I judged him to be beyond redemption.
From an RP standpoint, I felt that it wasn't the place of the Grey Wardens to possibly start an international incident with the mages of Tevinter when I had already accomplished my goal of freeing the elves and getting the evidence I needed.

There's a store in the alienage?
Yes, there is, but it only opens up after you resolve the slaver issue.

And only if you.. er.. actually free the slaves... as I might have found out.. somehow.

The Tevinter Blood Mage slaver guy is one of the few guys you can't really justify letting live. At least the other characters try and at least pretend to be sorry for what they did, and cast doubt as to whether they are lying or not, but him, you know he's a mofo and his offer right from the start lets you know that the guy is not only beyond redemption but that letting him live will probably cause more death later, and so you're obligated when playing nice merciful characters to gut him like a pig...
Like someome said..Kill 1 guy and there's 10 other bad guy popping that take his place.

You can allow him to live. If you spare his life he gives you increased health from Blood Magic. I don't know if your overall health pool is increased but when your about to slay him he offers this deal. I did accept his deal, and granted me a nice bonus. But in my defense I was a Blood Mage.

I don't think simply killing that guy would have had the slightest impact on the overall slave trade

It's a matter of traditions, and he's not to blame that slavery is still used in his country. Aside from that, he does have an official okey-dokey from Loghain, so his operations in Ferelden are sanctioned. It's Loghain who's to blame in this case.
Besides, that Caladrius guy is really amusing.
Then again, I always play as a mage, so I tend to show mercy to fellow mages, if I can. I understand that a city elf will, most likely, have no doubts about killing him.
Not at all. If you defeat him, you can tell him to run and leave everything (i.e. elves, money and letter). He simply says it's very generous of you, considering the circumstances, and leaves. From memory he just attacks again after you say you won't let him take the slaves, so he had to die.

You need to have very high persuasion/cunning to pull that off.
