I've been playing Bioware games since Baldur's Gate came out.

The CGI trailer for ME3 is horribly impersonal. It's an OK trailer for a generic sci-fi war flick, but the battles are not what I play ME for. It's the quiet moments, the side-quests and all the dialogue that makes MY Shepard mine, as it does your Shepards, YOURS.

If they figured "Let's go all Gears of War, we have enough momentum from the RPG fans as it is!" it'll be a pity and ME will go out on a whimper instead of on a bang.

However, knowing how misleading advertising can be, I still have my hopes that ME3 will be even better than 2 and will be buying it at Day 1. This trailer was a MASSIVE disappointment though. Five minutes of The Walking Dead on ANY episode are tons better, even when it's establishing shots. That thing was soulless, void, dead. Could have been Marcus Fenix in there.

They need to market to other people not just the males and not just the fps people and run and gun types.

The hilarious thing is, for all this forum's crying about the Gears series, GoW's advertising is leaps and bounds better than Mass Effect's.

Random Jerkface said it. The trailers for GoW made me want to play it. They moved me. Then I found out the game was not for me.

With ME, the trailers dishearten me but the actual games have been pretty good. It remains to be seen if the third follows suit.

PS Jerkface, don't misunderstand me. Gears marketing was AWESOME. The gameplay was also great for a shooter, but did not apply to me. If I was a shooter fan, I'd be in heaven.

PS2 What the girls are saying is that the ME trailer has no soul, no emotional connection to anything aside from 12 year old twitchers. It's not a matter of FemSheps in the first place, that's beside the point.

Think they're both doing the same thing, in a way -- GoW already has the shooter fanbase so marketing tries to catch interest of other groups. ME has the rpg people hooked so they drum up the 'you can shoot men' aspect.

I get what you're gals are saying, but what exactly would you want Bioware to do to attract more female gamers into Mass Effect? Other than showing the main character as a man/woman?

I mean maybe its just me, but I couldnt care less about the main characters gender when I look into a game. I focus more on the style of game, and whether I'd enjoy it or not. Because either way, regardless if its "Sheploo" or FemShep we're still going to be playing the same thing. =P

Yeah. I'm actually generally adverse to shooters, but the Gears trailers intrigued me to the point I was excited enough to buy the game on launch. Turns out, whilst it wasn't bad, it wasn't to my taste.
