Bit disappointed that the only person we saw in CGI render apart from Shep was Ashley but *sigh* it was to be expected. *continues dreaming of Kaidan CGI render*

Apart from that it was pretty good.

I've been playing Bioware games since Baldur's Gate came out.

The CGI trailer for ME3 is horribly impersonal. It's an OK trailer for a generic sci-fi war flick, but the battles are not what I play ME for. It's the quiet moments, the side-quests and all the dialogue that makes MY Shepard mine, as it does your Shepards, YOURS.

If they figured "Let's go all Gears of War, we have enough momentum from the RPG fans as it is!" it'll be a pity and ME will go out on a whimper instead of on a bang.

However, knowing how misleading advertising can be, I still have my hopes that ME3 will be even better than 2 and will be buying it at Day 1. This trailer was a MASSIVE disappointment though. Five minutes of The Walking Dead on ANY episode are tons better, even when it's establishing shots. That thing was soulless, void, dead. Could have been Marcus Fenix in there.

I don't get it.

Everything in the ME games, books, and other media has led up to this - the war against the Reapers. What else do you think they are going to show in the trailer? Shepard doing some miniscule sidequest on the Citadel? Is your commentary serious?

Sorry that your view of what the big bang is is largely different from everyone else's. As for me? I did find the trailer moving. You see the epitome of innocence - literally - a little girl playing in a field of sunflowers, and then sheer destruction and the sight of her before a Reaper, most likely just before her death.

I didn't see a "LOL GEARS OF WAR BOMB GORE BATTLE" trailer like you depicted it to be. I saw humans and I saw Shepard and Ash, two people who have been there since the beginning, to regain what has been lost - Earth, a place where innocence can be born.

This trailer wasn't misleading in the slightest. If you thought they were going to focus on something else, well, herpy derpy to you.

EDIT:

Also, I understand everyones concern for wanting a very driven story oriented trailer...but hey, BSN, do you have short term memory loss? Remember the lost time Bioware did that? You raved on here for weeks after the ME2 trailers came out. Babbling about seeing the Normandy being blown up and all that. You're beginning to eat your own words.

Awesome trailer. And rofl @BSN. Didn't think the negativity would hit so fast.

I liked it too - the trailer is trying to elicit some level of emotional response in the audience and do a bit of storytelling while driving home the point that the Earth is in danger and that the war is hitting us at home. As for the negativity, I pretty much expected that. What strikes me as hilarious is the fact that people complaining about the trailer not showing gameplay have the ME3 demo available to try out (with actual gameplay *gasp*). Yet here they are complaining about the trailer being CGI. Hahaha, oh God, the BSN kills me sometimes.

I really liked the trailer, but people like hating

It wasn't a bad trailer by any stretch. The CGI was top-notch, the music choice and sound were excellent, and there were moments of inspired editing and direction. The problem people have with it is that it was boring. Sure, it was mostly high action, but that could literally be a scene out of any action film made, ever. We've already seen it a thousand times. Granted, I realise marketing isn't meant for fans (and, as a peanut gallery engineering student, I don't presume to know much about advertising) but I don't see how this will attract too much of the crowd they're targeting. It looks like just another space marine game filled with TOTALLY AWESOME, and the market has already reached the saturation point for that. Considering that the gaming industry has already exceeded K for "gritty soldier shooter," I'm not seeing how this (which doesn't really have anything that stands out) is likely to draw in it's intended audience by anything more than chance.

But I dunno. Maybe I just need to be enlightened.

BSN is pretty much the worst place on the entire internet when it comes to this stuff.. "Waaaah, too much action! Why won't they just show us two minutes of dialogue! That will make way more people buy the game! Waaaaaaaaaah!"

Extended cut on feb 21st.... bioware why did you make a teaser of a teaser?

This is what's known as generating "hype." It's all about the marketing these days.

i just find it pointless.

Hmm very nice.

But yeah... this trailer does kinda scream "HEAVILY EDITED FOR TV" due to the music sounding disjointed here and there. O_o

Yeah, that's not going to ever happen. It's the same reason Alistair didn't make it into the BLUR DAO trailer. The hero has to be easily identifiable.

TBH, I really didn't like the trailer. It didn't have any "OMG!" moments, no BA fight scenes/music, it felt impersonal, and it seemed horribly put together.

Dear God most of you are the most cynical, whiny, entitled pieces of garbage. The trailer was fine! It did what its job was--to drum up interest in the game by showing the war against the Reapers, but also showcasing the action of the game. To those of you who complain there is no dialogue, the only thing I have to say is that your argument seems like a stretch. As someone demonstrated earlier, large crowds of potential fans will not be drawn in by lengthy conversations, most likely dealing with the in game universe. The viewer would be confused at not knowing what is going on in the ME universe, and by extension, not care about the awesome dialogue. By showcasing exciting images, it leads people to look further at the game. It is there that they will discover the other trailers that showcase the different gameplay aspects such as weapon customization, quality storytelling, FemShep, and the many others. To say that this trailer was garbage is to overlook how people pick up new materials. I for one, will be watching this trailer for a long time to come while enjoy the great game that will be Mass Effect 3.

I thought the trailer was pretty sweet, though the little girl was kind of odd looking. And what is with kids in the future playing with toy jets in the grass?

This was asked by somebody else earlier in the thread but I never saw anybody respond to it. Is it possible for anybody more photo-editing savvy than myself to reproduce the Mass Effect/Walking dead poster on the front page but without the text. It would be awesome!
