BioWare, is this payback for all the complaining the BSN has been doing lately?

Mass Effect @masseffect
@remus88romulus You will find out in two days! We are glad you loved this cut
I guess it will be 30 seconds to 1 minute longer. 10-15 seconds more is nothing.

I've been playing Bioware games since Baldur's Gate came out.
The CGI trailer for ME3 is horribly impersonal. It's an OK trailer for a generic sci-fi war flick, but the battles are not what I play ME for. It's the quiet moments, the side-quests and all the dialogue that makes MY Shepard mine, as it does your Shepards, YOURS.
If they figured "Let's go all Gears of War, we have enough momentum from the RPG fans as it is!" it'll be a pity and ME will go out on a whimper instead of on a bang.
However, knowing how misleading advertising can be, I still have my hopes that ME3 will be even better than 2 and will be buying it at Day 1. This trailer was a MASSIVE disappointment though. Five minutes of The Walking Dead on ANY episode are tons better, even when it's establishing shots. That thing was soulless, void, dead. Could have been Marcus Fenix in there.
I don't get it.
Everything in the ME games, books, and other media has led up to this - the war against the Reapers. What else do you think they are going to show in the trailer? Shepard doing some miniscule sidequest on the Citadel? Is your commentary serious?
Sorry that your view of what the big bang is is largely different from everyone else's. As for me? I did find the trailer moving. You see the epitome of innocence - literally - a little girl playing in a field of sunflowers, and then sheer destruction and the sight of her before a Reaper, most likely just before her death.
I didn't see a "LOL GEARS OF WAR BOMB GORE BATTLE" trailer like you depicted it to be. I saw humans and I saw Shepard and Ash, two people who have been there since the beginning, to regain what has been lost - Earth, a place where innocence can be born.
This trailer wasn't misleading in the slightest. If you thought they were going to focus on something else, well, herpy derpy to you.
EDIT:
Also, I understand everyones concern for wanting a very driven story oriented trailer...but hey, BSN, do you have short term memory loss? Remember the lost time Bioware did that? You raved on here for weeks after the ME2 trailers came out. Babbling about seeing the Normandy being blown up and all that. You're beginning to eat your own words.
Well, this. The trailer was awesome, and it really doesn't surprise me that people here at the BSN are all whining about it. You want dialogue, gameplay and in-game emotion? Play the SP demo. I only played it once, for the sake of noticing more details when I play the full game, but I remember that there is so much more emotion than on this trailer. Really, be happy we are getting a trailer. Other studios could have imposed a total media blackout after the massive leak of the script, and even moreso since ME is a story-centric game. There's a reason I don't peruse the forums here as frequently as I did, and this thread is telling to stick to the few I'm subscribed to.

The part with the girl made me cringe. The rest was reasonably good, though not remotely on par with the femShep trailer.

Dear God most of you are the most cynical, whiny, entitled pieces of garbage. The trailer was fine! It did what its job was--to drum up interest in the game by showing the war against the Reapers, but also showcasing the action of the game. To those of you who complain there is no dialogue, the only thing I have to say is that your argument seems like a stretch. As someone demonstrated earlier, large crowds of potential fans will not be drawn in by lengthy conversations, most likely dealing with the in game universe. The viewer would be confused at not knowing what is going on in the ME universe, and by extension, not care about the awesome dialogue. By showcasing exciting images, it leads people to look further at the game. It is there that they will discover the other trailers that showcase the different gameplay aspects such as weapon customization, quality storytelling, FemShep, and the many others. To say that this trailer was garbage is to overlook how people pick up new materials. I for one, will be watching this trailer for a long time to come while enjoy the great game that will be Mass Effect 3.

We start with a shot of a little girl playing with space toys. In ads, it's usually a little boy with the space toy or a little girl with a cute dolly. It may seem like a simple thing, but to me it was pretty cool. Later, they cut to a shot including a badass female, clad in full armor and moving to stand beside the hero as an equal. Then they walk into battle together.
This is the only Mass Effect ad where it didn't matter to me which Shepard was being shown. In that moment, I didn't want to be Shepard, I wanted to be Ashley.

p.s. also Ashley (not my favorite character, even now when they upgraded her
p.p.s. ohhh, and question for Chris, can you tell us anything about animated movie, I saw somewhere on the internet, if I remember right Mac Walters said, or was it Casey.... anyway, he that animated movie is nearly finished and that everybody in BW looking forward to it. Info about it would be fantastic, since we know, well actually nothing about that, which is understandable, because of ME3

I'd like to say one positive thing about this ad; for once I didn't really care that it was Sheploo. In spite of the male lead, I feel like this ad has a very girl-gamer-friendly subtext.

Is there -any- way to start ME from scratch with that engine? I'm just saying, because that engine is able to produce highest quality images on the same level as the CGI trailer we saw here.
You just need a real power house as PC ^^
