uhh why was the reaper targeting that one kid? i get trying to get us emotional but the reapers will not give random kids playing with a toy ship the time of day

An entire reaper comes down to kill her.

same with the demo

come on  now

Gah you people... it's a metaphor for crying out loud!

The Reaper did not target a lone girl in a sunflower field.. she was simply in its way.

You've got the sinister black alien machine thing coming out of the sky, looking like an alien claw clutching aaaat.. a symbol of purity and innocence.

Really. Is it that hard?

Nope. It is the same scenario with the demo, the reaper goes derp.

They are not "evil". They are efficient and going to that field with no other defenses to hover over the girl and kill her was an attempt to gain sympathy points

I hate Ashley so much I would have rather saw Jar Jar Binks standing next to Shepard...

It only said that ships can't land.

One of the Bioware devs actually said that Dreadnought in the demo wasn't supposed to actually be a Dreadnought since it contradicted canon. Again artist screw up.

More like a miscommunication between art and writing, combined with time contraints:

Good trailer does not mean good game. I seem to recall a certain space film called The Phantom Trade Dispute that had a 'good' trailer. We all know how that turned out. That, and Lagrim's lame trailer with some fool with a skull helmet fighting an overgrown flying rat.

Excellent Trailer - Epitomises everything about this being the 'Final Battle' - Great Job!
Best bits? - The segue between the model spacecraft and its real counterpart over the skies of Vancouver; London destroyed; Hammerheads and Makos oh boy!; and the Normandy in CGI glory!
Also good to hear Thomas Bergensen laying down the tuneage in the background.

Extended cut will top notch - looking forward!

Nope.

The Reaper was moving from A to point B, a little girl was standing in its shadow. You don't actually see the Reaper releasing dreadnought killing rays of molten metal to get her, either. You don't see the Reaper dropping a horde of husks or whatever to kill her.

You just see a scared little girl in the middle of a genocidal war, face to face with the enemy.

Same with the demo - the Reaper didn't stop to target the little boy. It destroyed - and in a couple of seconds no less - a pair of Alliance shuttles. All part of the shock-and-awe-and genocide thing.

Love it how a lot of people are complaining about it not having any story in a commercial that was only what a little over 2 minutes. Remember the last time they did something with story in it? *cough* ME2* Yep, BSN **** at that too hence why we aren't seeing any plot in these trailers.

There wasn't much there and it's confusing... FOR ME! And I know something about ME3.

I hope the director's cut is longer. Like twice as longer.

Still, it was cool.

The trailer was good but it looked more like war of the world game than galaxy extermination to me.

I loved every second it. Amazing CGI combined with Everlasting and Black Blade by Two Steps From Hell? Instant win.

EDIT: Woops, thought it was Everlasting but its actually After The Fall XD My bad.

Liked the trailer. Not quite sure why some of you were expecting something else. The femshep trailer was aimed at the BSN crowd, whilst this was aimed squarely at American mass market which is not a problem in my book.

Loved it for what it is, an epic cg trailer which looked awful purty  :3 , little dissapointed it wasn't a little longer or had a longer drawn out combat scene ala ME2's cg trailer. Also Ashley looked great, a lot different than her in-game look but a good kinda different.

Now, no offence here, but.

Can you shut up? Please? No one cares about Skyrim. You needn't bring it up every time you post.

I don't think it's messed up, it's just different. Different 3D artists using a different style aren't going to be able to completely replicate a character. Sheploo doesn't look quite the same either.

She may not look as close to herself as Miranda did in FFtL, but IMO she looks more like Ashley here than Leliana or Morrigan looked like themselves in Sacred Ashes. Those were like completely different characters.

EDIT: They also might not have access to images of Ashley's real-life model to base the 3D model on, as opposed to images of Mark Vanderloo that are quite easy to find. I'm not even sure who Ashley's real-life model is, actually.

I'd like to say one positive thing about this ad; for once I didn't really care that it was Sheploo. In spite of the male lead, I feel like this ad has a very girl-gamer-friendly subtext.

We start with a shot of a little girl playing with space toys. In ads, it's usually a little boy with the space toy or a little girl with a cute dolly. It may seem like a simple thing, but to me it was pretty cool. Later, they cut to a shot including a badass female, clad in full armor and moving to stand beside the hero as an equal. Then they walk into battle together.

This is the only Mass Effect ad where it didn't matter to me which Shepard was being shown. In that moment, I didn't want to be Shepard, I wanted to be Ashley.

This.

I love the trailer. Very epic. Good job, Bioware.

They did it again. Ash's face in the trailer looks a 1000000 times better than in the actual game (just like Morrigan's in the Ashes trailer/DA in-game)! Wonder why sheploo looks just like in ME?!
