That was clarified as a, uh, typo :) The thing that blew up in the demo was an alliance cruiser.

Besides, I'm not sure Dreadnoughts can do atmospheric flight.. after all, everyone was gaga about the Sovereign being able to actually descend and land. Massive element zero core and all that.

A distinct lack of alien forces in that battle. Felt a little too human-centric to me.

At least there are some.

Really? Where? All I saw were humans, human ships and human vehicles. No aliens involved.

Just to bring you up to date, the ship in the demo was not a dreadnaught, they realised their mistake after the VA's had finished the voice sessions and gone home, it was too late to change it.

There were some turian ships at one point.

Besides, it kind of makes sense.. it is called Take Earth Back, after all.

Any ideas on what those larger ships are ? At first i thought they were all redesigned human cruisers, but at a closer look thay are different, as you can clearly see the original cruisers from the ME Battle of the Citadel beside them. Also, they seem to have Alliance markings.

Notice the Normandy is flying in formation in that picture and during parts of the trailer.  It's almost the size of an Alliance Cruiser. :)  Which I think we already knew due to the descriptions, but this the first time we've seen the SR2 next to other ships.

Yeah, the ship being blown up in the demo seemed like a cruiser to me too. Still, as far as the trailer goes, i can't find any explanation other than them being Dreadnoughts. I counted five in the trailer, which would fit the codex and the size ("kilometer-long") seems adequate, plus the design which is very similar to the alliance cruisers for them to belong to other races.

I really liked it, and prefer it over the Femshep trailer. Though that kid in the beginning is kind of creepy.

Yup, in my game, I just chalk it up to Ash/Kaiden making a small mistake in the heat of battle.  Kind of like calling one of your friends another name by mistake.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that in all the scenes of Shepard fighting in that trailer he only fires a weapon once, and it's a side arm. I mean don't get me wrong it looks awesome but I think you might be giving people the wrong idea about melee in this game.

Well tomorrow there will be an extended version, I'm sure that will have a longer action segment, which just got chopped up in this version.

"No plan survives first contact with the enemy."

and also given that we are literally ground level in the middle of an all out close quaters fight it looks pretty chaotic - stepping back there is more unit cohesion  than we know.

Now here comes the funny part, if you look at the ship the reaper is blowing up in the demo it is clearly an Alliance Cruiser and not a Dreadnought even though they say so - you can dissidence the cruiser from the Dreadnought by the two protruding main guns of the cruiser while the Dreadnought has the guns enclosed (like seen in the picture here).

It didn't do a lot for me. Nothing BW has put out for Mass Effect has come close to equaling the launch trailer for ME2. That one had me bouncing off the walls to play the game.

go to the 1:07 part of the video and you can clearly see the ppl in the background are all grouped up, no military leader would ever group his/her unit like that, even if its against "melee" troops, you always draw "melee" troops to your entrenched position and kill them with effective cross-fire

instead you have a bunch of "soldiers" with guns engage purely "melee" husks in hand-to-hand combat . . . . Shepard really, really, REALLY shouldn't be in charge

I got a hardcore Star Fox 64 vibe after I saw the jets get shot down. Earth kinda looks like Corneria...

Well one thing is for certain.

If you are a child that owns a toy ship, you are going to die.
